    EASY!

    Put on a stormbolter/twinlinked catapult/rodeo shoota.

    Hold fire until they die.

YOU JUST TRY AN' ADAD SPAM OUTTA DAT DAKKA!!

or you could just join the melee master race. you know you wanna

Biggest problem with side straffing is that small amounts of lag make it valid. If you can adjust for even the smallest lag or get used to how it works now you should adjust fine. Cant say I've ever been put off by bunny hopping, straffing, camping etc in games. Now that going prone while flying through the air....thats some bullshit right there due to using something in the game that kinda ruins the experience to shrink your hit box as much as possible while not having your aim penalized.

The only game I know that doesn't have adad is RO/RO2/RS because you die in one hit and you can't aim worth shit while moving.

This game is going to have adad and there is no real way around it without a major overhaul of all the weapons.
  4. This, and the erratic movements/animations you see... "net code" etc.

I'm confused...You aim if you want to be accurate like in the kind of situation where you want to hit a moving target..
And yet strafing, the most basic entry level skill for gaming is a cancer because why?
Is it because someone is going to lose, normaly the person who has the lesser skill?
Its player vs player, my skill/luck vs yours what is the problem?

... slow down movement speed when hip firing by 20%? Add it further on top of existing ms reduction when aiming?

Isn't this the main solution modern shooters like BF use for strafe-firing?

Well there's a couple arguments here, and none of them are as insane as people keep implying. They are as follows pretty much...

1.) It's unrealistic and it looks silly. Yes this is a video game, we know, things won't always be realistic. Still though, it looks a bit ridiculous watching battle hardened warriors of centuries of battle two-step while they are shooting. If this were the only problem though, it wouldn't be so bad.

2.) For Heavy Weapon classes, this is basically a death sentence. The entire game is based around fast-paced moving battles, which ADAD is usually a part of. The problem lies in the fact that all Heavy Weapons classes are balanced around bracing, or a "stand and deliver" type of combat. Now one would think, "that's one of the drawbacks for being a walking turret, you aren't supposed to be good in that situation" and to a point that is correct. But in the current state of the game, the battles move very quickly, and a Heavy Weapons class spends more of their time in transit than actually set up to fire. Basically, the very design of the game is against them. This isn't even mentioning the fact that there are almost NO good firing positions for a Heavy Weapons class as it is or that they have a slower tracking rate against said enemies (even while braced I think).

3.) Technical issues, bugs, errors, lag/latency, netcode, hitreg, and really any other technical problem you can imagine make ADAD spam that much worse. In a perfect world, ADAD would be ok simply because the skill of the person firing the weapon would control who wins in the engagement. In the REAL world, ADAD almost always causes warping, janky animations, porting, bad hitreg, hitbox problems, etc etc and the list goes on. Basically, by introducing ADAD along with any technical issues the game may have, you throw firing skill out the window and an engagement becomes completely based on luck, rngeezus, and whatever the internet and servers decide in that moment in time. Basically, it destroys consistency and turns battles less into a shooting match, and more into a "god I hope my shots actually register this time" engagement.

4.) It favors fast firing "Spray and Pray" weapons, and in most games, completely invalidates slow firing heavy hitting weapons. This is pretty easy to see by looking at the majority of FPS games out there. When faced with enemies who constantly are bunny hopping, ADADing, or just zig zagging, the meta moves from "actually aiming and using hard hitting weapons" to "since I'm not going to hit them anyways, take a fast firing spray and pray weapon and just hose them down". And while, to a point, that's ok, what isn't ok is that alot of the time it won't just create a new playstyle but will completely invalidate slower firing harder hitting weapons. Just look at Planetside 2 and the kind of problems NC players had to face with the Gauss Saw as their default LMG. It took PS2 almost a year to realize what kind of a detriment that was in a game with the kind of fast moving mechanics it had.

Of course there are more arguments against it I'm sure, just as there are more arguments for it. At the end of the day though, the argument isn't that "we want them to be easier to kill so we want them to stand in place", there are many actual valid concerns regarding ADAD spam. And considering almost every game has it nowadays and the bastion for players who actually want a more realistic shooter experience is dwindling fast, we tend to think of it as a virus/cancer because it infects almost every game.

I said it earlier in the thread but, solutions like that would work if this were only a shooter title. It would balance out ranged vs. ranged combat pretty well. The problem is that this isn't just a shooter, there's melee, and alot of it. If they were to mess with our movement speed even more, it would just give melee an even bigger advantage when they advance on us and we try to fire upon them.

It's in that weird space where, it needs some fixes because ADAD is kind of bullshit right now (especially with the shit technical issues), but if we tweak it the traditional way we set off yet another imbalance between ranged and melee combat.

It would meld nicely with old Ork melee range for all melee but we're not gonna see such chamges anytime soon.
  9. Appledrink Appledrink First Blood!

With melee already being the king of the battlefield, doing this would add insult to injury. Melee needs to be looked at before doing something like that.

I don't have a big issue with ADAD spam as much as I do with the terrible animations that result in the appearance of players warping when using ADAD spam. Several of you have already touched on it, but when I see players ADAD spam it looks like frames are missing in the animation and this is especially true for Eldar. If the animations could be cleaned up and look as smooth for other players as they do when your character moves I think that would help a great deal. Also, we desperately need sensitivity settings for both hip fire and aimed fire.
