I wouldn't mind a tyranid swarm winning, as long as the faction that was previously winning or perhaps the last faction standing won something. I think everyone would be pretty mad (especially in the winning faction) if the Devs just up and decided that the Tyranids were going to win. As far as just popping up and holding a territory I feel like thats more of a Necron thing, whereas Tyranids go for planetary invasion and never stop attacking mindlessly. Necrons are just sort of...unearthed and go to town

The tyranids are a threat to be feared and respected. If they never won than they'd never be a threat, more of an annoyance. The trick is to make it fair, so that it balances how much PvP/PvE players do. Players want to fight other players, and they'd probably want a challenging tyranid opponent, but they definitely do not want to be annoyed and frustrated because they can't move 10 metres before a carnifex pops out of nowhere and chops them in half.

This is an interesting idea and I definetly think the tyranids should win. It would make a huge impact to the game and tactics and the warcounsil should also think about the tyranid threat also.

If all parties decide to dismiss the tyranids it is only logical that they will overrun the continent at some stage and there is no one else to blame except the persons in charge.

So yes from me to this idea.

Agreed. The Eldar have been fighting The Great Devourer for longer than your races can remember. We of Craftworld Iyanden know the price of threats ignored more than most. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't ally ourselves with lesser races to defeat such a foe. However, She Who Thirsts' Followers gain no such aid.

~I have to reiterate how great this idea is. The AI wouldn't be terribly hard I think, granted the funding of this project isn't stellar, but having challenging npcs is imperative if they choose to add them in this fashion. Also, I would love to see a war council with one or more representatives from each race discussing the recent advances of The Great Devourer.

I think it would be amazing if every planet and every campaign had different hazards and issues that made problems for the forces. Who's to say that, while one planet has blizzards and 'nids as dungeon defenders in caves, another can't be in the direct path of an enormous hive fleet. You've got a month to win the campaign or tyranid attacks will start to rapidly increase, another 2 weeks later and no-one has won; the attacks have gotten so severe that the nids are actually taking territory for themselves and inter-faction fighting has completely ceased. Another day and everyone's lost. Another victory for the Great Devourer.

yes, something like this maybe, except if everyone actually fights well enough against the nids they can beat them back and earn some more time to beat the shit out of each other

I thought they were suppose to be a wildcard against dominate factions.
Not an NPC faction meant to capture and control the objectives everyone else is going after.

The point of Tyranids is purely to occupy territory, specifically whoever has the most territory.

Territory is divided into small areas that you must capture and hold. Tyranids will randomly attack an area if an army has the majority of ground on the battlefield ( And probably exponentially, the more land they have, the more attacks ).

The only way Tyranids would win a campaign ( Which takes from 2 weeks to 3 months ) is if no one played at all / Did not fight back against Tyranids.

Outside of that ridiculous scenario, i'm sure Behavior won't be giving them the ability to gain point's towards winning a campaign.
