So.. x human or xeno.. always succumbing to the "lure" of chaos.. could a daemon, presumably intelligent and of free will... choose to support order instead of chaos?

I thought most of the greater demons and demon princes were of free will. Off the top of my head one of khornes greater de ones was tricked by teezech and was cast out so he should be uninfluenced by chaos but still kills as knows nothing different and wants to get into khornes good graces.

Interesting idea. I'm hopping that if they ever do an end of times event in 40k. Magnus will come through for daddy which would kinda prove your point

No two daemons were ever wholly alike, nor were they uniformly malign!(Talon of Horus) so i guess its possible!

Da Greater n Lesser daemons ov da elite four are exstentions ov der will. Chaotic en nature, but not ov complete free will. Greater demons ave more autonomy n are clever, but not free. Demon princes can think fer demselves, but dey ez bound ta da attention ov der patron.

One demon Prince has all four gods as patrons, n he does wotever da f@ck et wantz! Depending on hoo he getz powers from at da time. Usually for evil ends.

Regular mortals n demons can have similar goals, but der just using each oher. But fer a good reason, demons can be bound and forced ta do good fings. Not dat dat makez em good.

there is other demon not only chaos demon, when the humans pray the emperor, they feel, someone the feel, of hope to be saved and protected reflect in the warp and create a sorta of imperials demons.

the warp is the manifestation of living being emotion, this is what are the miracle of the sister of battle. Their strong devotion and faith have influence in the warp.

apparently with the last mini-codex legion of the damned appear to work the same: they appear out of nowhere when space marine and imperial citizen are in extreme danger, when they die they die in a pillar of fire, they have appeared before the disappeareance of the fire hawks, so they are not the same, probally they are generated by all the lost space marine soul lost in the warp that come back to protect the imperium.

it's not an act of psychic power, work more like the waagh work, it's all about the basic energy of the warp: the warp is a sea of souls and energy generated by emotion, so real world emotion have effect in the warp.

  7. Grig nailed it on the head. "Daemons," are the physical manifestation of (primarily) Human emotions given form by emotionally-imprinted collections of Warp energy. If this is true (which it likely is) then theoretically anything is possible with a Daemon's psyche if the right combination of emotion-infused pieces are brought together.

I even hypothesise that an entirely bound Daemon forced to sustain itself on positive emotions or "sanctified," Immaterial energy would slowly change its nature to reflect its diet.

  8. If we are speaking of Warp entities as a while then yes, some can act with beneficial purposes or benign natures on some rare occasions. Sadly the universe is one of war, greed and conflict, so those negative elements form concepts and beings in the Warp far more frequently. Those who represent alternatives are rarer by comparison, and more often than not serve as a depiction of justice or retribution, sometimes even acting as mercy killings.

If we are speaking of a daemon, a being aligned with the Ruinous Powers as a whole, then no. The closest we have had to showing this is a single novel, an extremely well written one admittedly but also one with a highly unreliable narrator. In that it was an unaligned force and it seemed to be wholly unique, not to mention far more loyal to someone than truly benevolent. Those of Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh are those who are formed out of spiteful emotions or represent the worst aspects of humanity. Some have shades of grey to be sure, Khorne has martial honour usually, Nurgle genuinely cares for his followers, and Slaanesh has been shown to occasionally act with generosity, but these are more shades of grey than anything else. However, it's usually the mortal races who act with more outright good intentions when they do crop up. The problem is that daemons are formed of a certain concept, an idea, and it seems outright impossible for them to turn away from that.
