Campaigns: What They Actually Are

  1. Watching the video in your sig just reminds me how depressing the situation is.

This game clearly had no vision or design for campaigns. And when players found out that there won't be any campaigns, the pitchforks came out. So Behavior quickly scrounged together some UI to calm down the peasants.

This is what campaigns are, really. They are obviously a stop-gag measure to prevent the player population for collapsing, before this game goes F2P.

Chill out guys, seriously. Things may be moving slowly but they're still moving !

They have implemented a campaign system which has no impact on gameplay at the moment but it might have later. First of all, rejoice to have weekly goals and free RTP to reward your victories.

I guess it ain't so easy to come out with a full campaign system because if there was a real benefit with gameplay impact for winning a campaign, there would be legions of whiners asking for a nerf of the faction which won the previous one. Given the community we have here, this behaviour is highly predictable so the devs need to deeply study what can be done about winning/losing a campaign.

See this current campaign thingy as a first step on a path to something better.

And don't forget last September's "game release" was a joke. We all know the game is unfinished and its actual state is more like "beta" than fully released game.

no offence BUT all of what u have said boils down to suck it up things are happening very slowly ... enjoy it ....

whereas yes its not a fully released game we do know this - however releasing not fully finished shit into the game isn't the best idea either .. considering the demand for something else to do in game, how much free RTP do we get btw i haven't bothered to even check myself and do all factions get it or just our 'main' one?

also this campaign idea was advertised 4 months ago during release time .. on the adverts too ... so saying this is all they have managed to 'knock' together in 4 months is disgusting at best from the devs, considering this stuff should have already been in the code somewhere - or sat waiting to be 'flipped' as the devs love to say.

The way you explained it was nice and sweet but a very VERY sugar coated post for a disgusting implementation of a shit data collection system that they already had access to.

all factions gain it, and with each faction you gain 1000 RTC for participating and 2500 for winning
so if you get 10 wins with charcters from all factions you get 2500 + 3*1000 after 10 days
you also gain requisition on every charcter you at least participated(won 10 times) and even more on your winning character

    Bingo.
It's been like this with just about every 'feature'so far.
There's a huge disconnect between devs and the larger playerbase, you know, the people who arent licking their boots and also dont bother to give feedback or come back to the game.
If you 'tease campaigns, then delay it and finally implement it in its current form and expect people to be psyched about it, you should probably get your head checked.
Win ten battles for the faction!
Collect 10 flowers outside the gates of Orgrimmar!
It's a almost cynical bitchmove to copy the grinding quests of actual good games such as WoW.
I cant tell if the devs are really this far gone and disconnected that they think people will love this, or that they actually know and just produce bullshit while they spend most of their desktime f5-ing the jobsections of monsterboard.com.

Ofcourse there will be hardcore fanboys (each game has these nolifers) who will thank the devs for their titanic efforts such as the interactive worldmap and campaigns, but every normal person who plays this game and isnt overly invested can see the bullshit.
'But you can earn RTS! so it isnt p2win!'
Great, so once they get balance close to being fair i can walk around with my rts weapons looking really cool, but still having a shitlatency, soundbugs (THEY HAVE TASTED MAH BLOOD), retarded vehicle handeling, freezes, and cheap ass servers.

    PURE WIN.

It will still fail as F2p, mark my fucking words.
These guys cant get anything right so far, so once the hackzorz come in and play with the coding, im not holding my breath for the l337 BHVR devs to come up with swift countermeasures any time soon.
The only possible good outcome would be that this game will become a epic testament of BHVR's inability to produce a game on their own and they should stick to what they know for the future.

If you really want this game to succeed this trickle of "content" that is advertised by the way, isn't going to add to the longevity of this game or add to the player base.

Rejoice to have a weekly; really? It "might have [an impact] later", and because of that lack of information, we should rejoice and desperately hope that the mold will be broken? The devs need to "deeply study what can be done about winning/losing a campaign", at the very least wasn't that what they were doing since launch which delayed campaigns?

Again, I simply cannot wrap my head around this abused-wife mentality. "They only lie and disappoint us because they really love us and I'm sure next time we'll get what we actually want this game to be!"

They didn`t even need to search outside of their own forum couse as I remember there were courple ideas about how campaigns could works like. If they missed it they could just make thread "Your ideas about campaigns". It could give them hundreds ideas from community. Hell... even someone such negative about EC future as me wouldn`t ignore that.
They could do that and I am sure many of those ideas would be really complex and hard to implement. But even from reading them knowing they are hard they could get some ideas how they could be made simpler and implemented as a basics to expanded later.
Why not asking community? Couse it is taking some time and effort to read comments. Better and easier implement some period quest and call it "campaigns".

This time they amazed even me. I expected that they last "content patch" will have little content but at least he had grav guns and cosmetics. But with that "campaigns" they were creating hype again and in the and gave us something that surelly doesn`t deserve world "campaign".
What next? Unpainted terminators without animations? "We have terminators for you! It is basic idea to be expanded later".

First step? It is like building a house. You first need foundation you build walls on it to build the roof on them.
As I look at that so called "campaigns"... What actually can be build on it?

If we could had some territory defending/capturing I would agree that later they could expand it by giving some rewards to factions theat controll them. For example:
First step: Controlling Torias (you can see it is yours on map) at the end of week will give you XXrts for controlling Other territory will give you same number of rts.
    Second step for future:
"Torias reffinery control gives your faction rts and better fuel supplies so your vehicles culd spawn bit faster" etc.

But what could possibly be build on what they implemented? There is no mechanism for anything else then just weekly reward for playing. This is : complete datas about number your victories and give rts when you have 10".
