burning and poison weapons are a crutch

Should being attacked by a poison/burning weapon kill you instantly and ignore combat rules?

  1. Yes, i should be able to kill people by lazily fast attacking while they block every attack

  2. No, why am i getting poisoned through a shield? it makes no sense

    I loved the fact the OP says " a full stack of poison will kill you in seconds"
    Everything ranged, pretty much can kill you in less "seconds".

    hmmm, so after you spend 5 seconds or more, of hacking and slashing/channeling the beam for stream. You then have to wait "seconds" that is if the target isn't near any heal grenade, or near any of the shitmillion apothecaries out there, and THEN he might die.

    I'm pretty sure if you have 100% of your health, and suddently get a load of 100% poison, you last more than 3 seconds....which is like twice the Bolter eq TTK. But who's counting.

    The only poison/fire that kills you fast....is usually attached to swordlike weapons. Which might trick you into thinking it's the poison/fire dmg, but it's really the 3 hits you take while it's beeing applied, that make the work. Fire/poison are just finishers. ( not speaking of melta, or light cannon)

    Although we did look at the stats in another thread. I compared two builds, one for scorpion and one for traitor assault, and we evaluated an 80 effective HP difference between two pretty much identical builds. On top of that, if swords get nerfed (as they should) then Eldar melee will be significantly less effective than it is now.

    Banshees at least get the scream to up their trade damage, to make up for the lack of effective HP and lack of any access to higher tier melee weapons. Scorpions will eventually be left with nothing to give them any sort of strength toe-to-toe.

    I'm definitely not going to deny that their strength is in their stealth. That's my main source of kills currently, as scorpion is probably my most played class next to Hawk. I just feel like, assuming swords get the nerf they should, scorpions need a little extra something to level the playing field. Assuming mandiblasters are just a single auto-hit on cooldown, the could soften up the enemy and reduce the number of winning trades needed to kill.

    Got Gud post Patch 1.3, adapted to the absolute misery this game has become for Melee and carried on regardless.

    Melee weapons that have damage over time added to them are absolutely necessary to counter the OP bollocks that Ranged has going on FOR A START.

    The Ranged nerf is coming and its gonna hurt, no more babying or hand holding by the devs for the F2P introductory patch, actual skill may be required if you want to use that Bolter.

    Saying that, LSM don't actually have one of these vital tools for Melee, all they have is the Burning Light Cannon which does by far the most damage over time of all the weapons AND it spreads to targets near the afflicted where as the Melee versions are restricted just to the target:

    Here is the real Crutch of EC which is causing enormous amounts of damage to the game, and no surprises here, its Ranged:

    In particular the Penetration and Damage vrs rate of fire and accuracy.

    ^Fix this sort of crap before even thinking about Nerfing Melee because again, no offense intended but its the cold hard truth that nobody seems to want to see: Ranged is absolutely the crutch of EC.

    42 DPS for 333 Rounds Per Minute is just a ridiculous amount of damage, and to add on top of that 110 penetration? come on.

    I'm not spending the next half a year having to deal with all this easymode LMB spam fest.

    I know he is talking about shieldbro's specifically, and like some already mentioned, the dmg doesn't pass through the shield, only on true hits. And since a few patches ago, they already had the benefit of not beeing Dbashed, and deal considerable weapon durability dmg to attackers. but...

    But it's funny that with melee weapons with on Hit dmg effects, when the TTK get's just slightly lowered....a nudge closer to RAnged TTK , IT'S FUCKING ARMAGEDDON

    I'm a primarily melee player. Don't mix me up with players that are biased to ranged (or melee for that matter). I like fairness and equality. There are things i disagree with on both ranged and melee sides, in the current build.

    What exactly did they do to swords? I played earlier today and swords still hit twice during a melee stun. As far as I can tell from the damage numbers, swords still do almost twice the damage axes and maces can do in every winning trade.

    Ranged are still able to kill in a single defensive bash by shooting. This is far more of an absurd advantage in melee than being able to swing twice with a sword per trade, and is an even worse offense because of the fact that ranged should not be stronger than melee classes in melee, as they are.

    I just have my own vision of fairness in the game. That includes melee classes having an advantage over ranged classes in melee (but not total domination), and melee weapons having different strengths and weaknesses that offset eachother. In the current game build, swords are universally better than other weapons (as far as i can tell), and ranged classes win melee trades too easily.

    Other than the dbash full clip in your face = instant death....still doing really well in melee and find it viable.

    Maybe I am an odd duck, but putting 10-30 (longer matches towards the 30) kills a match as melee is pretty typical.

    It's still a lot easier and effortless to do the same 30 kills and more with a bolter. That's the point.

    I kinda like it that way and it feels right.

    It shouldn't be easy to charge someone dumping 300+RPM rounds into someones face. However, once you get there...the advantage shouldn't be for the guy who was dumping 300+RPMs. Generally speaking it isn't with the exception of full clip to the face after dbash.

    Correct me if I'm wrong here, but DOTs delay armour regen don't they?

    If that is right, there's more value to DOTs than outright damage.

    A melee player playing Tatical, is a lot stronger than, a melee player playing melee.

    I think as long as you are taking dmg, or armor does not regen.
    You might be on to something
