Buff the power fist/claw.

  2. As long as we keep doing this we're going to see weapons that should be totally kick ass and somewhat rare being nerfed to laughable proportions. Storm Bolter, Plasmagun, Power Fist immediately come to mind. Instead of seeing these weapons as the kick ass weapons they should be, with only 1/5 or 1/10 players at any given time equipping them, we just nerf them to uselessness. Surely you see what a charade that is?


    But i suppose players not feeling like they have to wait or be limited or restricted in any possible way(while receiving laughably weaker versions of 40K weapons) is okay. It's okay that the Plasmagun sits in everyone's armory and never sees the light of day because it's so lackluster, as long as everyone can equip one whenever they want. See if we make the Plasmagun actually kick ass like it should be, then everyone would run Plasmagun 24/7. What's the alternative? Nerf it to uselessness and leave it available to everyone all the time, or limit this weapon to Squad Leader, Hero/Elite and make it a lethal weapon.

    Plasma gun can kill literally 5 times as many marines as a boltgun in tabletop.

    Let's not go off the fucking deep end. This game is in many ways lightbeers beyond 7th ed in terms of weapon balance. bE's model is a lot better than the "canon" model.

    And Plasma could also blow up in their face. I doubt anyone would want to be shooting their Plasma Gun/Cannon then have it randomly blow up and kill them.

    1/18 chance to kill yourself versus 5 times the lethality, choices choices.

    Just want to point out there is a bug right now with powerfist/klaw where the charged attack doesn't disable the vehicle as you should. This leads to you being roadkill instead of fisting the vehicle to death.

    Its possible the vehicle stun was removed and replaced with grav-like snare.
    The same thing happens with haywire grenades on hawk, it doesn't stop vehicle, just slows it down, so I'd go with a bug.

    The thing is, if this game was an rpg I would totally be on board with that. But because it's a multiplayer game, which I would like to see variety in, in this case variety of weapons instead of everyone just being bolter porno superstars and nothing else.

    I actually main plasma gun for my tac, mainly (this might sound dumb) because Dark Angels are my faction and I try to equip them with plasma weapons over everything else, even to detriment that the LP costs create more waste and I'm much better with a Bolter, as a modified Bolter I can do pretty damn good. That @Valrak guy has taught the way of Bolter porn kungfu good. But anyway, it's a theme for me, and I will build on those themes even if it's not so good mechanically.

    So with that said, would I want the Plasma Gun to be more lethal? Absolutely, but at the cost of only equipping it on veterans and the like? No ways.

    A lot of the weapons and gear need to be 'downgraded' for game balance, so we have more than just Bolters, but the more important reason to me is that if a weapon is too good (old powerfist, PC) combined with the extra durability/lethality of a veteran+ class will create a even larger divide in skill / game fun with some players running around and annihilating everyone else. Not my ideal path of fun.

    So as to Powerfist, I can do pretty well with it as is, and it does need the vehicle stun to function properly. But lastly, it needs to be used right vs vehicles, as the right tool for the job, you don't use it on GA vs Eldar tanks, as thats not the right tool to bring. Not all tools for a role need to be equally valid, ie MM, LC, Melta + bomb, PF, ext., as LC is not very good for small maps though shines in Fortresses, but Melta on Fortresses is much more limited usually to when the gates fall until A is capped, compared to LC being usefull all the way through.

    So hopefully I'm not blabbering on to much here but I like having access to all the weapons, and there is no reason they can't offer superior versions of weapons but only for elites ext. so variety is there but balanced.
