Yes yes I know what happened last time, but this time take a deeeep breath. And look I even made it short!

    In-Game Relationships for Characters.

Astartes (Loyal & Heretic) get Brotherhoods
(Craftworld & Dark) Eldar get Brotherhoods (M/M), Sisterhoods (F/F) and Lovers (M/F)
Orks get Pacts or Brotherhoods or such
Tau would get Bonding (via Bonding Knife)
IG would probably get also Brotherhoods, Sisterhoods and Lovers

    and so on.

This is NOT marriage. This is similar, but WH40k is too dark grim, bla bla for all your liking. (Though we all know that at least Eldar have lovers, and since Tau can only have children within a caste, so must their warriors have some sort of relationship system)

    In any case. Purpose?

RP [special brotherhood/sisterhood/lover gestures] [including special locked ones which are premium and require to be bought so devs can make money]

Perhaps special Team-Executions? (cost money; so the devs make money from even planning these features)

Minor bonuses [EXP, Money and such, not stuff like damage boosts]? (when in same squad only) [can be further extended with premium boosts, so the devs can make more money from this feature]

Could also be cooler to have perhaps a title on profile (perhaps even for Forum) with 'Brother of X' or 'Lover of Y' and such.

And before anyone cries "LET THE DEVS MAKE GAME FIRST!" ... Yes. This is totally optional and can come 5 years after the game is out for all I care. I just would like to see some sort of presentation of relationships. As said: No wedding and crap needed, just these little itsy-bitsy things.

And for those concerned: Look premium gestures and stuff! So devs make even a profit out of this! And then put even more money into the game to make it better!

    Win-Win!

  2. I can see what you are going for here, but I really just don't see it being a thing the game needs.

If it were to come down the pike at some point then so be it but personally i would prefer to keep any kind of relationship/bonding system to the squad level. Encourage people to join and fight along side the same group for a while, which to my mind is more fitting to the setting than pair bondings.

Your bonuses seem cool enough and the reasoning is sound, I just wouldn't frame it as relationships more bonding as a group/squad.

The thing is it would need more permanent thing than that. Because Squads can be quite varying and I am thinking here of close friends which play here and there together. Or well RL spouses like I know are going to play EC together (German Forum).

It is for peeps who are well quite close to each other, like 2 individuals - not more not less. Of course you could expand this on a squad-wide level - no prob. But I would love to see Couple-like systems.

It is not a question of Couple or Squad, you can have both.

  4. I just don't really see the need to be honest. It seems like it would fit in other settings but not so much in a dedicated wargame. It's clear that you put some thought into it, I just don't know that the couple idea really fits, but maybe that's just me.

I hope the Devs at least see it and weigh in on the idea, even if I'm not too keen on it I'm not really opposed either.

I'm getting a mental image of two marines breaking a bolt casing in half and each wearing a piece like a necklace.

Usually stuff like that appears on the late stages of the games, when they have their battle-hardened community, people, who have a clear idea about the core gameplay and features..
I won't speak for everyone, but personally I can't decide on such matter right now. I don't have a clear idea of what my time in this game is going to look like, or even will I spend it here at all.. it depends.
But still... If.. IF the game appears to play great and not to hurt the eye of a 40K fan, I can't see how the Brotherhood feature can spoil it. Though this feature is totally dispensable, imho.

  8. This concept Interests me so... But... I feel as if this is completely Unneeded, I have no need of a Title to show that all Space Marines are my Battle Brothers, A Bond that not even Death Can Break.

The Banshee and Scorpion decapitate the enemy together, then take off their helmets and kiss.

The player who was executed wishes he could have stayed to watch instead of being respawned.
