I came across this post of a guy analyzing the size of a boltgun and its ammunition, and assumed you guys would get a kick out of it: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284381-on-the-scale-mismatch-of-bolts-and-bolters/

With all that info in mind (and to stay somewhat within the confines of a discussion forum!), would you prefer for magazines to hold a "realistic" amount of bolts, or should only balance decide the amount of bolts in a magazine? Would you be willing to compromise on visual flair (smaller impact holes, etc) to keep the dimensions realistic, or do you want them to just go all out with the bolter-porn and throw proportions to the wind?

Only one mistake i seem to notice him making. The cannon is that the standard bolt weapon for SM use 0.75 cal rounds an the Heavy bolters use 0.998 caliber bolts. But he seems to use the .998 bolts as standard. Other than that is pretty neat.

And reading some of the comments is blody fantastic, good enough to make me LoL!

Yeah, he seems to acknowledge the 0.75 cal as the cannon standard, but he switches to 0.998 later because it makes more sense with the size calculations.

i've read some article with images etc etc...

the result was: magazine size is wrong and heavy bolter backpack have a warp portal that create ammo.

.998 is not the caliber, bolter have 0.75 heavy bolter 1.000

the 998 is the model of a pattern (like ak47 47 is not the caliber)
  5. the rounds are not one over another and so on
    its 1st bullet left
2nd bullet top right of 1st
3rd bullet top left of the 2nd
    and so on
that would almost half the needed size

Yes, but the important question is. Does size matter?

i liked the link TY! readying on 40k is always fun. I don't agree with the height of the SM that is posted, 7-7.5 feet? thats a bit short IMO. i dont think the tallest pro-Bball players are demi-gods to us! i thought I read they are 2.5-3 meters tall. which i thought was more like 7 3/4 - 9 1/4 feet. "roughly" as far as the bolter goes, i think they already said weapons will be balanced? but, while having played "Space Marine" where the bolters feel like automatic rifles you can shoot in any of the FPS games out ATM. I hope the bolter in the game feels as god-like as we imagine it to be when we read about them. even though they are like "rifles". read how the "bolt" round works and all will be made clear.
  10. Oh great! Not another "expert" who doesn't realise that Bolter weapons have a Muzzle Brake!

That's right, the part of the barrel bisected with a hole isn't part of the barrel but an addition to it to deflect propellant gases to the side.

Also, his measurements are wrong, very wrong.

And those measurements are based off the models, with a bolt round being 0.75 cal/inch.
