    Still not enuff dakka.

Lol, I'd LMAO if I ever see something like this :D
  3. Two heavy bolters? May need more dakka.
Try adding chainsword under-attachments, and like, they have powerfists built around them.

Just the fact that you have a chainsword (or even a power weapon) doesn't have to make you inherently just as good at melee combat as a dedicated close combat class. There is a difference to being a shooty class with a more advanced backup close combat weapon and being a dedicated close combat class... or at least, there can be a difference depending on how the devs play it out.

Also, Tacticals wouldn't have access to Jump Packs, Stormshields and some even more advanced cc weapons like dual Lightning Claws. But close combat classes could have access to some more advanced ranged weapons than pistols. For example, Raptors can use flamers, plasma guns and meltaguns in the TT. There is no real reason why they shouldn't be able to use them in EC. Still, they don't have to be as good at using them as Tactical Chaos Marines (or whatever they'll be called in the end).

Anyway, I see absolutely no point that invalidates either of these two classes in the scenario of them sharing some of their weapon choices.

quote in red seems to suggest bolters can be fired one-handed
quote in green seems to suggest one handed melee weapons can be held with both hands

  7. Seems to me that some contributors are getting hung up on certain points.

Yes there are factions/Chapters of SM that allow Tactical Marines to carry melee weapons alongside, just as there factions/Chapters that field Assault Marines as basic troops.
Like most forms of soldier, since soldiering began, Marines do carry a combat knife. But with SM it doesn't really improve their CQC capability.

Tactical Marines that do get CCW's usually only get an option of a Chainsword, Chain-Bayonet or an unpowered bladed weapon (in the fluff, SW can carry axes & Um can carry a gladius). Weapons better than these, power weapons for instance, are generally reserved for full Veterans, Sergeants and Officers.

So there is a precedence for Tacs with CCW's, and the question isn't should they have them but whether they get them automatically or as an upgrade. Plus what weapons they should have access to.

P.S. I would really love a Chain-Bayonet for my boltgun!

    That's the balance part...
Those who have them as standard equipment, should get them automatically...
Should the others have the option as part of an upgrade? I'm leaning towards "yes"...
Above is my position on the subject, IF and only IF things are balanced out, and we don't just get into a situation that any tactical marine without a chainsword, or equivalent CCW, is a "gimped" build, or any Assault without jump pack is only a worse tactical...
  9. Usually when an Assault downgrade's from wearing a Jump Pack to a standard backpack, they usually get some bonus or upgrade in return.

As common sense dictates that is should be...
But gameplay-wise, if an assault without jump pack (with the bonuses and upgrades) is , let's say , useful in 10% of the situations, and the 90% can be covered from a Tactical with CCW, where does that leave the assault?
Even in TT, you have "preferred" army builds, but that's a luxury that is not welcome in a MMO that advertises that they work against "preferred" and FOTM builds.
