Well, there are so many theories that is simply isn't funny. I have heard good ones for Thousand Sons and for Black Legion.

It is pretty obvious that the Blood Ravens intentionally forgot their primarch but as to WHY?

My favorite theory atm is that their founder (not primarch) was a Luna Wolf who escaped Horus' treachery at Istvaan V. That would make them SERIOUSLY persona non grata with the Black Legion. Might be why Eliphas was so amused with them in Dark Crusade and Chaos Rising. Why Kyras was so bent on avoiding actions with that traitor legion and why Araghast so underestimated them, to his cost.

That would also neatly explain why none have ever gone to Terra. They are not allowed because they are not trusted.

Then again, that Apothecary in Chaos Rising said that foolish missteps were a pattern with Blood Ravens. Was that simple taunting or something more?

If you manage to read the tooltips from some of the wargear in DOWII, it is fairly obvious that Moriah, the mentor of Azariah Kyras, was far more than a normal Space Marine.

Or I might be totally wrong.

Well if you beat the Blood Ravens with Chaos in Dark Crusade apparently Abaddon approves and no one knows why the killing of the Blood Ravens would please Abaddon.
  3. Yes, however shall we discover why Abaddon would be pleased by bringing a chapter of Imperials to the brink of Extinction. Tis a mystery it is.

I mean that Abaddon takes pleasure in it beyond what all Chaos Space Marines would, Abaddon looks upon it personally. More as if he's a personal stake in it.

Just like in DOW II when he banks so much on trying to turn them rather than killing them all.

    Huh?

Araghast wants to kill them all in Chaos Rising, not Abbadon until the very end.

Abbadon is in Retribution as the Chaos quest giver.

Don't know, laptop couldn't run DOW II but I think Abaddon tried to turn them at some point. That was my point though as Abaddon seems to have a personal involvement into the Blood Ravens even though they're post Heresy and would more than likely be a footnote to the Chaos Legions unless they've ties to the Heresy like the original Chapters like the Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, Salamanders and those that came straight out of the Heresy like the Black Templars who have strong links to the Heresy.

Yeah, it does seem a bit more personal with him. Which is odd, but many think hints at a link to the Black Legion.

  8. Not really, I mean Chaos Lords generally want more Space Marines for their armies, and that plot demanded that the Blood Ravens foiled their plans then naturally he's going to be pissed about. Not discounting it entirely, but trying to turn an Imperial and then being pissed at them aren't anything unusual.

No, but this seems a bit... more.

Well failing to turn a Space Marine force would be seen more as a disappointment not a rage inducing moment.

If a Chaos Lord were to bank entirely on turning those who're dogmatically bred to believe Big E is God and realises they're not biting shouldn't be surprising.

Take their Gene-Seed would be a better move.

Abaddon seems to put the turning of the Blood Ravens above planning for a Imperium wide invasion...
