Blood Ravens Progenitor Legion

  1. White Dwarf, November 2016, page 73, Blood Ravens Space Marines.
Between that and the preceeding Army Of The Month article, entitled The Scions Of Avidya, there is a lot of info on the Blood Ravens.

the relation between the two is only people speculation, so is pretty sure is not going to be true.
  3. this is for Laurie Goulding

here is the thing, sometimes in 40k you just shouldn't give a damn about what some people say. remember back in the day someone told us the gratest chapter in the 40k univers are the ultramarines ...... and remember what happened to him ......... he recently got hired again by GW:p...... but that's not the f##king point :D the point is that even though he said it, and he is a person who has a effect on 40k lore, because we didn't accept it, it's no longer cannon.

and here is another "unorkadox" way to look at it. if sometimes enough of us believe something to be true it is true(in 40k that is)
Ex:- Gork and Mork, Squats(both of which GW tried to ratconn and still having a hard time doing it), Angry Marines , if the emperor had text to speech devise ;)

on a serious note for me what Laurie Goulding said goes of against Graham Mcneill's thousand sons book.
and as of now it's one writers opinion against the others. and if it comes to choosing a side i am pretty sure i will choose Mcneill every time.

it's called "headcanon" pretty much all the war 40k fans have some "headcanon" elements in their personal pov of the war 40k

    1. GW never tried to retcon Squats out of existence.
The story of them being eaten by Tyranids was an off-the-cuff remark from a games designer fed up of being asked when they were being brought back.

No Codex or Rulebook has said they're all dead, they just stopped mentioning them until the 6th Edition rulebook.

    2. Graham McNeill wrote "The Ravens. I see them too. The lost sons and a Raven of blood. They cry out for salvation and knowledge, but it is denied!" in A Thousand Sons.
Now isn't there a short story where a temporarily amnesiac Blood Raven ends up with a band of Thousand Sons led by Ahriman. Sounds like it's referencing this, not anything more.
Graham McNeill has a reputation for writing things in his stories that would stir up the fandom.

Outside of the Dawn Of War novels, and anything in Index Astartes, which are all out of print, or the short I mentioned above, there is nothing to link Blood Ravens to Thousand Sons.
No current rulebook or Codex supports this, nor to my knowledge has ever done so.
Which is why the link is treated as Fanfiction by GW, BL, and FW.

If you know different, and can quote a Codex or Rulebook, even a Novel, that definitively says otherwise, kindly point it out by posting the books name and page number for the reference.

    Avidya?
    A vidya?
    A vidya game
    A video game?

    Decedents of a video game?

  9. for the squats i apologys

as for the BR i know the facts and i thank you for pointing them out again but i don't see the argument

are you telling me not to believe blood raven might be remnant of thousands sons ?
considering the fact that Mcneill was the same person to write index Astartes and also the same person to wright thousand sons isn't it a enoughe reason to speculate and have theories?
  10. Theories yes.
But when someone works for BL and says there is no definitive link between the Thousand Sons and the Blood Ravens, then you have to accept that your theory is just a theory because there is no proof to link the two.

Personally, my favourite theory was that during the Dark and Cursed foundings gene seed from The Great Crusade era was used to create Chapters. Gene seed that was not necessarily from those who remained Loyal.
It's one theory that could explain the Carcharadon, Minotaur, Blood Raven, and other Chapters.

But it is only a theory.

As for the fate of the Loyalist Thousand Sons, the short story 'All That Remains' by James Swallow, is far more telling on a particular future for them.
