There is genetic drift or gene divergence which does take place over millennia, This is due to the degradation of the gene seed, a progenoid gland which has been used repeatedly over a great expanse of time in maturation tanks and Holy Ritual since before the Heresy. THERE ARE NO WOLVES ON FENRIS. the wolves went about looking for mutation/sorcery in all the legions if they found evidence watch out ... yet there was plenty of evidence inside there own legion instead they called it wolven/fenrisn..totalaly ok. the wolves do whatever they like and answer only to the emperor/ totaly loyal bad asses.
