I would be honoured if allowed to join the ranks of my fellow Blood Angels Battle Brothers! I want to fight and fall on your side! For The Emperor and Sanguinius!
Brother's of the Sanguinary Lineage, I have come to report for duty. For the Emperor! For Sanguinius!!!! We have time until the game is released. I wonder if it would be too fanatical to Begin voting on a date/time to which all Blood Angels will log on so as to congregate in one general area. Just for the heck of it!! lol
I think it would be an awesome feat to include the Black Rage and/or Red Thirst successfully. The quotes are taken from the 40k LEXICANUM. "In battle Blood Angels can harness these visions to evoke a ferocity that gave the Blood Angels Chapter its reputation for unparalleled brutal assaults. Sometimes however the Red Thirst is so overwhelming that the Blood Angels forget their noble heritage and completely lose control over themselves. It is not unheard of that Blood Angels squads abandon advantageous positions to engage the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. More often than not, these assaults turn out to be so devastating that unprepared enemy forces are simply swept away" In my Opinion, the above statement sounds as if it is possible to enter the state of the Red Thirst and come out of it without any lasting negative effects. However, it seems as if this is possible for only a certain amount of time per episode. Next is my take on the Black Rage. "All of the Chapters derived from the Blood Angels still suffer from the psychic imprint left by Sanguinius's death. This can cause them to go insane prior to or during a battle, and they believe that they are Sanguinius himself during the Battle of Terra. The condition is irrecoverable (except for one case, Chaplain Lemartes, who is largely able to control it), and victims are locked away in the "Tower of the Lost" on the Blood Angels' homeworld until they finally die. This insanity is known as the Black Rage." Seems as if the Black Rage is, as it states (mostly) irrecoverable... What should this mean IF it were to be incorporated into the game, Brothers? I think the Red Thirst should be a gauge or something that fills up based on the damage you receive OR the damage you deal to your enemies. Once full, you have the option of triggering the Red Thirst state which would last for a certain amount of time. As you level up, this gauge can increase in points so that you can exist within the Red Thirst state for longer. Since this state is largely for hand-to-hand and increases those stats/abilities, than your ranged attack capabilities should suffer huge penalties. In short, your Red Thirst ability increases as you level up. Now, in cometh the Black Rage wrench to screw it all up, lol. If you remain in the Red Thirst state for too long at a time, you run the risk of going into the Black Rage. For example, each time you enter the Red Thirst state, you will see a "Black Rage" meter slowly begin to fill. The meter will stop filling when you cancel the Red Thirst state but it will NOT decrease. The Black Rage meter (maybe..?) will increase in capacity as you level up as well but it doesn't decrease over time. Once the Black Rage meter is filled than... Good Luck. Since you would be super human in strength and ability than, to offset this, maybe you would lose the ability to distinguish friend from foe..? Sorta make it so that everyone on your screen looks like mere white shadows so you can't tell who is who? You will not be able to control when you come out of the Black Rage and, unless you receive aid in time, you will simply die after the Rage subsides. It was mentioned that a Chaplain can effectively communicate with a Blood Angel gripped in the Black Rage. This will add to the importance of Diversity within each faction/race, regarding the various classes you can level into. So, if a Chaplain was/is within your unit than you would be able to come out of the Black Rage AFTER it subsides, and not die.. Or before.. Maybe Chaplains would be the only classes which an insane Blood Angel can distinguish from others..? How can we decrease the build up within the Black Rage meter, naturally? Well, the Black Rage is when a Blood Angel "looses" themselves and believes that they are Sanguinius. Most importantly, they feel rage, hate and stuff like that. I think this can be overcome if you go about your day(s) and mission(s) without using your Red Thirst skill (even if it is filled). By doing this, you will prove that you can maintain control over yourself (thus, not losing or forgetting who you are). Maybe some "special" points/coins will be granted to Blood Angels which can be used to decrease the build up within Black Rage meter. These special points/coins will only begin to spawn after you collect items or kill an enemy or complete a mission IF you have not used the Red Thirst skill for at least 12 - 24 hours. I have not forgotten about Chaplains and other classes that could help this condition. However, we have to remember that, until people begin to lvl up and become Chaplains, Blood Angels will be on their own. So unless you have a Chaplain with you... you better do what you need to do so that you do not go crazy. I am thinking that if you Succumb to the Black Rage and die, than you would suffer huge a penalty to your Red Thirst meter when you re-spawn. For example, you won't be able to generate any Red Thirst points for a day... or week! ). Also, you would have to repair all of your armor as it would all be 100% destroyed. Basically, there is reward in discipline and we would need incentives to keep people from WANTING to enter the Black Rage state. Thoughts?
I agree with you completely on the Red Thirst aspect of your idea, but not on the Black Rage. That's just not how the Black Rage works at all. As you say, Blood Angels consumed by the Black Rage can not control themselves. However, they are kept in cryo to be unleashed onto the battle field and hopefully die on it. The chapter places them on the battlefield just out of cryo in black armor and are known as Death Company. Succumbing to the Black Rage does not mean death itself but you serve no other purpose. The Black Rage would be very difficult to implement as it is not something you come out of, with the most rarest of occasion (Mephisten being the only one I can think of). I wish there were a way to make it into the game but they would have to break the lore to do so. *Sent from my Droid Maxx
This is my view on the matter of B.A. Chaplains: Ziet said: ↑ Am I currently the only Chaplain in here? I said: Well, you'll be needed when Black Rage takes me over on the field of battle, Borther Chaplain . So yeah, I agree, the Chaplain should be able to save us if the worst comes to worst. So that would mean in MMO terms, form a party/squad with a Chaplain and go on a killing frenzy from which only he can save you if Black Rage fills and starts burning an Astartes up from witihn . For the Emperor and Sanguinius!
I agree with you completely regarding the lore stuff and how you would not come out of it. Except the fact that, on occasion, the lore is bent a little bit to accommodate the game/product. I am not a fan of breaking lore or tradition but in my small opinion, something would be needed in order to create a balance or "check" if we are to have certain special skills/traits. I know they aren't killed on the battle field but what else could you do to penalize a player for not exercising discipline when it comes to your character? I am not sure, at this moment. I do agree with you about the lore but what other idea could we put into place to ensure that the Red Thirst skill would not be abused?
That's not a bad idea! Maybe the Chaplin turns the Red Thirst into the Black Rage while they are around, but because they are around is why they can come out of it. Maybe its like the Red Thirst but you do not have to fill any meter up, its just always on. However, what would a Chaplain do for other chapters? BA's should not have the only benefit to having one around.
Well, other chapters will have benefits. Maybe they will have balanced each advantage. But look at the Chaplain idea I had above.
The Chaplain idea sounds great. Basically you are saying that the benefit of having a Chaplain within a Blood Angels squad is so that they can gain their Super Human bonus' without fear of a negative backlash...? I like it. One problem is that IF they tried to stick to "lore" than there is no control over the Black Rage. Maybe the benefit of the Chaplain is that the Black Rage meter won't fill any at all while you are around the Chaplain? I will look up some traits which the other Chapters can have. I was hoping others whom know about the other races and chapters would come forth. I don't study all the chapters... not a lot of time.
What they could do for the Chaplain of the BA is your standard chaplain can grant something like an increased accuracy bonus while in squad with him/her. But one sub class for a BA chaplain could be Chaplain of the Lost who leads Death Company and can at least guide those affected by our gene curse
