As the dev team stated in the last twitch they intend to look at the state of melee. This may well lead to a nerf in melee damage so I was curious as to how they could stem the tide of melee UP posts after melee if they do decide to nerf it. One way to do this and add more veriety to the game might be to add blind grenades. regardless of the state of melee, blind grenade could be an interesting addition. If they were added I'd suggest giving the Eldar sunrifle an effect that stacks into eventual total blindness much in the same way. I have no idea how to implement a blind option for orks.

So, should they add blind grenades? should they make the sunrifle effect more cumulative?

I think smoke grenades would be far better. Helps both ranged and melee and let's you blind tanks.

Smoke em then sneak up with a melta.

Yeah smoke grenades would be cool. Not blind though, F that. lol

Also seen the sunrifle thing for the first time the other day. TBH the screen shake is a million times more off putting.

I'd absolutely support smoke grenades. More gear is never a bad thing and it could even be launched from transport vehicles to cover a deploying infantry force. But the blind grenade is a shock and suppression tool, meaning that melee (hopefully once rebalanced) will use it to give them a better chance against large groups and ground units would be able to use it as an entrance tactic to disorient enemy defenders in a tight space like cap points. The obvious downside is that anyone (including allies) that don't take cover before it goes off are blinded. It'll be a rough implementation, but the community will learn when and where to use it. Sunrifles with the above changes will make it a true suppression weapon if you allow them to make it one.

I'd vote for adding Blind Grenades if they simply negated lock-ons for a few seconds, possibly also disabled the HUD. Blinding auto-senses etc.

  6. How adding blind grenades gona fix melee?? I mean the melee is the one fighting bling atm. They just gona be the first one to use it...

Not suggesting blind grenades as a fix for melee. Saying that after melee fix melee may be underpowered for a time. Patch up the difference with blind effects until its fixed then tweak blind effect weapons so they can co-exist with freshly balanced melee. Better melee and new equipment and tactics. Wins all around. As others have said smoke grenades would be good too.
  8. This game doesn't need new game mechanics that is halfassed... Also I don't think that you can blind a marine in power armor. It should be hightech stuff and stuff.
  9. Anvil The-Forge-Dragon Arkhona Vanguard

You can. Blind grenades are actually combination flashbang/emp grenades that visually blind and disrupt the helmet's systems that would normally protect from the flashbang. And the game may not need more mechanics....but I don't think it could hurt if they're applied sensibly.

I always hated anything that did a "flash" effect in games. I have a light sensitivity issue that gets way worse when things like flashbangs are used a lot. If more flash gets added I would have to quit to keep health problems at a minimum. Sunrifle is already bad enough.
