Blind Drops would be more realistic and interesting also why should YOU decide where to drop? The captain / leader should be only allowed to decide where the squads get dropped and this will also make teamwork and such more interesting aaaaand you have no idea about your surroundings so you have to quickly adapt
^ THIS Thanks. Yes totally agree. In a sense it's like a blind drop when you do Deep Striking with the table top. You never know if the roll will favor you, the terrain or the enemy?
It will be more inmmersive and cinematic, of course I would love it but... wouldnt it be hard to implement with the 3rd person perspective that the game will be using?
Why? In basic you could see your drop-pod from outside falling down and that's it. I don't see much of a problem there
I think you should have the commanders choose the location and formation of the drop and then you sit in the pod and pray you don't go too far off course
Hell yeah, would love the interior of the drop-pod, looking at my battle-brothers whilst the pod shakes before we land and engage the enemies of the Emperor in combat.
Seriously man your suggestions are great. It should be a "could happen" situation, aleatory. Weather, orbital positioning, type of atmosphere etc should play a factor in determining if the drop is spot on or not.
Thanks. Yeah I think the idea of a blind drop would add some interest to the feel of plummeting to the planet surface. I agree this is a "could be" concept for the devs. But hopefully it will be one for consideration.
Man, apparently it is pretty hard to find good scifi drop scenes, so with that said here is a WWII drop scene that catches the full tension and chaos of a drop mission: Replace prop plane with drop pod, add interior view, some screen rattle, combat noises outside, klaxon and red light flickering inside then you got yourself a pleasing way to spawn into battle
Hmm, depends. By blind, do you mean your commander chooses, so you know where on the map you are, or do you mean you literally get in a drop pod then get closed in and have no idea where you are going, or do you literally mean you cannot see where you are going during the drop, and only after the impact happens and the gel/fome clears do you see where you are when the ramps come down? The first one sounds fine, that is realistic, but the second, although cool, may take away from the reason many people like MMOs. People aren't in the game to blindly follow orders (although that is what quests are), they are there for the illusion of freedom, which i imagine includes deciding where in the battle you want to go A compromise, you have blind drops in specific PVP war zones, but free drops outside that in the more 'open world.'
