on the TT, all successors use their 1st founding chapter rules... except for the BT of course, BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE IF.

BT armies CANNOT field librarians... you should know this. The Emperor banned the usage of ALL Astartes psykers and view their brother chapters' usage of psykers as heretical and opposed to the Emperor's will. For some reason the BT are ok with Grey Knights (terrible writing or logic, your choice) because their gene seed comes directly from the Emperor thereby making them innately holy and immune to Chaos.

Maybe u should learn to read better, buddy.

It clearly states that they allow astropaths and navigators, psykers that the Emperor allowed when he gave the edict of Nikea. The Emperor placed a BAN on all psykers for the astartes, with the few exceptions of the astropaths and navigators as they are ESSENTIAL to the survival of humanity. The BT are the only chapter whom truly follow the laws of the Emperor; when the Emperor says "No psykers for the Astartes, except for navigators and astropaths" they actually follow his law, unlike all the other chapters (including the IF). The BT allow astropaths and psykers because the Emperor allowed them. Otherwise, to the BT, psykers are nothing but an unnecessary and dangerous threat which can (and have done many times) lead an entire company or even an entire chapter to the clutches of Chaos. They do not openly strike against Astartes librarians (despite the Emperor's law) because they would feel it foolish and heretical to fight against the servants of the Emperor and their brother Astartes even if they are going against his law. But they have EXTRA RAGE against enemy psykers (if such a
thing is possible for BT) because the Emperor says they're bad and the BT actually follow his laws.

Maybe u should follow the lore, eh?

no the codex say that BT ha basically lost all their psikers or because they all died and nobody can train more or for a problem with the geneseed is not explained clearly.

the result is that BT now have no problem at all around any loyal psyker.

    it's all retconned.
Black templar now are the most borderline heretic space marine: because they consider the emperor a god against the emperor will.

Templars still have navigators and astropaths though, they are not part of the chapter and are human and are considered necessary since they need it to actually navigate, if the Templars lacked these then they would be unable to reach a battle in the first place.

They still have no chapter psychics though but navigators and astropaths don't fall under that and are from a different organisation altogether hence why they can use them.

no it doesn't actually state if they don't have librarians because of the Howling or if they just don't want any. It's likely that they don't want any BECAUSE THAT WOULD GO AGAINST THE EMPEROR'S WORD AS STATED IN THE COUNCIL OF NIKEA. Chapter rules for the BT still states they they CANNOT field any librarians in their army. The Emperor only banned psykers for the Astartes, which is why their ok around Imperial sanctioned psykers but still greatly distrustful. Grimaldus himself (Reclusiarch of the BT) states that the BT do not worship the emperor as a god.

The BT are far too different from the IF to ever be a "reskin" of them. A BT tactical MUST be able to take a chainsword (unlike an IF tactical) and they CANNOT have any psyker elites/heroes.

the image i linked is the 7th edition space marine codex.

black templar worsphip the emperor as a god.

the old black templar don't exist: it's all retconned.

if there is a source of the lore that cannot be contested is the last edition of the codex.
  8. Like how Grey Hunters should be able to take bolter and chainsword but can't because the devs have stated in the past that they won't allow any class to have both strong melee and strong ranged?
  9. Seth Seth Arkhona Vanguard

BT worship the Emperor as a God.
They revere astropaths and navigators due to being in the emperor presence and able to see the astronomican.
They still hate Xeno and Heretic witches.
They are still zealous maniacs. and if Templars are heretics for accepting the Emperor as a god so is the Imperium in general for the same reason. And so are all other SM chapters for protecting said heretics.
    Hardly the most Borderline heretic.
No mutations like SW and BA, no hidden secrets from the Inquisition, no Legion Building like DA.
Never killed friendlies in the fluff.
All previous 3 have done so.
Never abandoned a Battlefield to pursue their own agenda. They fight for the Imperium first and foremost.
So please, who is the borderline heretic around here?

I agree with most of Seth's points above. The Black Templars are far from "borderline heretic", claiming that they're heretics for worshipping the Emperor as a god against his will is just grasping at straws.

Although, the Black Templars did once indirectly kill millions of Imperial citizens who were being controlled by an alien psyker, so their fanaticism does work against them. Like all Chapters, they are not perfect. They also use their Initates as meatshields. They are also definitely legion-building, that's a lot of Marines to have. Again, not perfect. (And before you go wagging a finger at me, the Dark Angels have never been anything less than a legion.)

I maintain a firm belief that all Chapters have both good and bad qualities and that they're all interesting and unique for one reason or another. Too much do I see people hating on factions, and it is often largely because they don't know a damn thing about them. For example; on the 40klore subreddit, I wrote several paragraphs about the Iron Hands after they were declared "bland". After someone saw that writeup, they legit said that they probably would have started an Iron Hands army if they had the time and money.

When you really delve into it, and when you realise that many of these Chapters are all working off actual decades of lore buildup, there's a lot of depth to them. If you look close enough, you'll find a good reason to like pretty much all of them.
