Black Templars

Discussion in 'Space Marines' started by Marshal Ashcroft, Oct 18, 2013.

  1. No one can match the zeal of a Templar though, their sole drive is to annihilate the enemies of the Emperor, it is the only thing they care about, plus no other chapter will charge towards an enemy who has lots of guns, with a chainsword, not stopping, not even when most brothers have fallen before they reach striking range, in fact it only makes them angrier. Templars march forever onward no matter the cost to destroy the enemy. The Templars are faith incarnate. Guess that about covers them?

If you think that's all there is to them, then I understand you completely. I am going to disagree, however. I think there's a lot more to the BT's. They are the knights-in-space, complete with squires and so on. Fluffwise there's a very distinct sense of honour that I don't think applies to any other chapter. I mean, they sentenced themselves to a never-ending crusade just to prove their loyalty. They only tolerate the absolutely most necessary psykers (I heard this was changed in the new C:SM, but I reject that idea.). The Emperor's Champion will challenge every enemy champion until he is eventually bested in combat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defecting to the astartes, but it's a bit weird having a game called Eternal Crusade without the Black Templars... after-all their flagship battle barge is named "Eternal Crusader!"

  4. Indeed, they LIVE on Crusades, they have several on at ALL times, they ARE the Eternal Crusade!

i would like black templars however... given the nature of the game... it seems illogical to have more combat oriented chapters...

    as it stands right now
    blood angels = assault
    space wolves = assault
    ultra marines = universalists
    dark angels = assault
  6. Templars all the way. They are steeped in history, is why people like them so much. their origins actually date back to the Heresy. Although they are a second founding chapter, they were the most zealous and loyal marines of the Imperial Fists drawn into the new chapter. They seek the emulate their first High Marshall (Chapter master) Sigismund (A huge badass if you read up on him). So personally for me, its their history, heraldry and tactics I most enjoy about them :) I cant speak for anyone else though ^^

Black Templars = Word Bearers/World Eaters of the Space Marine Chapters.....Nuff Said.
  8. I think it's a little... Out of sync that you would create an Eternal Crusade without... You know. Eternal Crusaders.

    SO WE NEED BLACK TEMPLARS!!
  9. Agreed, they are fanatical. You forget how they were founded, and when, and in the circumstances. Striding across the battlefield, challenging demon and traitor champion alike and butchering them. High Marshall Sigismund (Chapters first master) was at the siege of Terra, and was appalled at the traitor legions. He swore an oath upon leaving Terra, that he would prove his, and his chapters loyalty by never resting in their crusade against the emperors enemies. So while they may be fanatical, they will never turn to chaos :p
  10. Just out of interest, why are black templars so much more popular than their original legion, imperial Fists? I know all the history, but they seem to be the only second founding chapter more popular than their first founding chapter
