Bitching about bad bEhavior

I'm going to preface this by saying that I have about 156 hours in this game, and have gotten each of the four factions up to Rank 4, but I know there are people who have been here since the kickstarter and they might be far more qualified to make this thread than I am, but I feel it is time for this thread to happen. I also want to say that for the most part, this thread is not for bitching at the dev team. It is for bitching at bE as a whole, because the decisions of the publisher do not conform to the obligations they have to the people that paid money for this game and for features that have been promised and not delivered.

I have a few gripes about the dev team and I'm going to go ahead and get them out of the way first and formost: It is not Nathan's job to respond to the threads here on the forums that are directed at the devs. It is jbregg's. That Nathan has seen it necessary to respond to threads in the General Discussion board and that he is more or less the ONLY one responding to the threads is a BAD THING. I want to know what's keeping the Q&A guy so damned busy that @Oveur seems to have more time to engage with us than @jbregg does, when it's the latter's job to answer the community.

Second gripe. Nathan, you need to do something about the understaffing problem. I'm not going to pretend to know what you can do in your capacities as Senior Producer, but if you can push for the needed staff to not simply maintain this game, but be able to frequently update it and semi-regularly add new and exciting content, maybe those player retention numbers you showed off could be higher, and maybe the community would have something to market to potential new players, especially content creators with many many followers who could then all but sell the game for you and not feel like they are misleading their viewers.

Last gripe, and this one goes to the dev team as a whole: Prioritize better in accordance with the desires of the playerbase. Vehicle customization sounds good and looks good on paper, but that's not going to bring in as many players as new maps, new infantry classes, and new gamemodes would because this game is dominated by infantry tactics. Vehicles for the most part see little use with the exception of transports because those are so strategically important that their usage is necessary in order to win most of the currently existing gamemodes. Players are going to spend the majority of their time as infantry, so you need to focus on things regarding infantry in order to make them fun, varied, and interesting.

The last one is a very specific problem and I'll provide feedback on some quality of life things for the short term.

An LP rework should be considered, as the biggest barrier to variety in loadouts is perhaps cost-effectiveness. Defensive bonuses seem to cost a great deal more than perhaps they should for their cost, given how limiting those costs are. This is applicable to most of the CLASS SPECIFIC veteran-only items, such as the various halos (700+ plus fucking LP! Biggest culprit though is the Apothecary who has to sacrifice so much to be a good healer, halos included), gobs (some of these are ridiculously pricey) and holy shit the chaos sigils are pretty pricey too, Slaanesh in particular considering the 50% reduction in armor regen time and Khorne for allowing neither revives (basically WAAAGH without the move speed or instant respawn. On a class you only get to spawn once a game.) nor healing aside from lifesteal. These are items that are only equippable on classes that you need to spend a great deal of time playing in order to unlock and are only allowed to be spawned once per game currently.

On a side note to moderators, rather than locking this thread if a handful of people get out of hand, I'd really rather you just punish the rulebreakers, delete the derailing posts, and allow reasonable discussion by everyone else to continue unhindered.

@Timburwolfe I don't thing you fully understand what Q&A stands for in game development.
  3. QA stands for Quality Assurance not Questions and Answers.

Then there needs to be an active liason between the community and the devs who can answer questions and engage frequently.
  5. Oh wow, another unhappy gamer! Shocking... Cheers on the intent of the post OP, if not the specifics.

I think that is supposed to be Katie the community manager?

    why tho ?
if you have questions send them to the customers support.
it's kinda what it's there for... to support "customers " which is all of you guys.

Listening to the community is good, but sometimes the community can be a bit downsy about some things. It's equally important to know when to ignore the community on certain stupid things.

    Like my posting, for instance.

But seriously, I think this game could greatly improve its controls, animations, and camera things. Things like clipping on ground debris, getting stuck at the top of stairs or ramps, vaulting over railings (ork lootas have a horrid animation for this). And a camera position that doesn't have my character taking over the left side of my screen, and orks that can shoot over railings a little better without having to go up and touch them.

I'm far more disappointed in the executives than the dev team. Hell, if it wasn't for Nathan and Noah, EC would have been dead already.

    Dat pun tho.

The Twitch streams are already far more than what most developers do. Also, the developers drop into discord every now and then to answer questions and show pictures of WIP stuff.

It's not perfect. But their communication methods are a lot more informal and casual.

Yeah, I'm not Q&A... I'm Quality Assurance like Ash here says. Would be more than happy the help you out if you have questions regarding mechanics and such. Can't answer things like "when will/could x be implemented" though.

  12. Communicating to the community is a good thing, listening to the community must be taken with a grain of salt.

No matter their good intentions, probably 90-95% of the "ideas" and "thoughts" of where the game needs to go or how to fix something are complete trash.
