I think people (press in particular) just aren't used to this open approach. That said we need to keep in mind it is just that. Just because the developers are showing us early footage, doesn't mean this game is going to be a run away success. It gives us an opportunity to communicate what we like and what we don't like which in turn will improve the way the game develops. End of the day its all on Behaviour to deliver that 40k experience we have been craving for. Time will tell whether this open approach yields the fruit Behaviour expects it will.
I saw just yesterday the gameplay, somehow I missed the whole thinh, probably I should follow the mmorpg.com too, I knew that a new footage is coming, so I checked the official Youtube Channel of the EC and the Facebook page, then I saw that Miguel posted the video. I think in this state of the game, witch detailed graphics and animation would be work fine for a SM like multiplayer game, and do it better than SM. I just surprised when I saw that we will able to climb up to boxes, and take cover and things like that. I can't wait to see how will the game looks like in full beauty. So go Behaviour!
