Tell you what the melee being shit as of this patch isn't entirely true you just need to know how to use it, my ga build has necro sword mon, blight gernade and t1 armor, plasma pistol and some trinket. From what I have played with a great many rangers overestimate their ability in cqb and that leaves to their death. That and flanking all the time is how I get kills with my build so far my record is 37kills. #meleeisntdead!
That's awesome, this might just save my sanity. Looking forward to trying out this build as soon as I get a Power Fist (I refuse to shell out for the spiky fist) I doubt we'd see the same results on JPA / Stormboy as they have no equivalent of Khorne mark though I do have the standard Fist / Klaw on them. Will give it a whack on them anyway. Thanks again.
But that ruins the Stalker Bolter being OP. If it can't kill things at close range how can it be stronk? Oh, close range is its counter, crud.
Sooooo, I skipped about 13 pages, read a bit of the 13th though. Ima just put my two cents about the state of things, from my perspective. Stalker bolter hits hard, it can two hit things like Eldar usually, if it hits other enemies right it can as well, could call it luck on my part. I personally use it for extreme range engagement in order to suppress or eliminate priority targets, healers, cap classes, and heavies...aka most enemies, but it's the special ones that stand out. On the receiving end it hurts a lot as well, but if you're paying attention and are around cover, you can survive. It feels good, as definitive long range weapon. I would not consider it the battle rifle it was back in EA, it's a sniper now. I'd personally recommend it be adjusted to be like the chain sword/power sword example, able to hit through tough enemies, but not more powerful in a "naked" character. Another bit that could help is a minor, very minor increase to the in between shot time. Armour stuff or health. I can't claim it's good or bad, feels alright, would need to play more with all the races. Sadly I'm at the disadvantage of not having all 4 factions fully unlocked, I only just got to rank 5...after 250 hours of average play, so... That said it could be tweaked, I've not been witness to the Eldar's increased ability to survive, playing as or against, hopefully I will soon find these things. Melee, I've had no issue, I've played it since the beginning, it's had rough spots but it's been my go to when I'm tired or not interested in shooting stuff, which is frequent. I'd still say that I frequent melee as any race, any weapon, each has their benefits and downsides, the fist change helps in some fights while making it still effective against vehicles. I'm surprised by the lack of use of jpas, at times that is. It helps close the gap and avoid heavy range damage. Again, some matches jpa seems like it gets overused in a match or it isn't used at all, this is chaos related as well, Orks can't say. I don't know if it's how I'm wired but it can be downright satisfying to use a jpa with a master crafted chainsword and bolt pistol, heavy jump and the greater fuel regen, and it works out beautifully for myself. As a raptor I'll use Khorne or no mark...but what about Slaanesh, I just hate the dickbag, and I'd prefer just not having a mark on raptors, never thought of them as needed of the 4 god types. The servo skull, a neat thing, I can see the need to tweak it though. I'd prefer the current one be separated into two different types (this is mildly a balance idea, barely thought out and not tested of course) with 1 that acts as ping sensor thing within a certain range, no line of sight needed, maybe a max amount of targets it'll ping, idk. The other would be a directional skull that'd debuff enemies in its range, idea being that it should be a more focused, long range asset, over a general, scan everything asset. Just my two cents though.
Not really, it's fine at close range, but for people who feel it's bad they have the option to use their pistol. This is, again, an option havocs do not have, and part of the reason why the bolter cannon is imbalanced at present. Seriously, if you're trying to say that the bolter cannon, which you can hip-fire without raising it or sighting in, is worse than the autocannon, which you have to spend a 1.5 second animation of raising-to-fire and narrowing your FoV severely to fire on something closing in on you or that you dodged from, then we really have nothing to discuss. You're just shilling, with no interest in reality. Yes, and?
Literally the only time I would use a pistol over the autocannon is if there's a melee specialist that's already swinging at me. The only time.
Well same could be said of the stalker bolter.... but it deals 125 damage on bodyshots just as fast as a bolt pistol and if the melee guy is swinging at me, that means I'm within 10m range: my stalker round will land EXACTLY on the middle of my crosshair, even in movement, and can be instantly fired, just like some sort of shotgun. Seriously, the counter to stalker bolter isn't close range, it's mid range, between 20 and 50m, where the x4 scope is more of an hindrance than anything and where they can't reliably touch you 'cause past 15m, hipfire isn't pinpoint accurate anymore.
