banshee scream works like Fus ro dah. (lower level) acrobatic lets them leap high and far to dodge bolters.
I think going with a suppressing effect is best balance and lorewise Giving a full stun or stagger will make them way to strong in close combat Banshees will need tools to get near their enemies Lower the enemies aiming is a good way to do so But to be effective the scream needs some range maybe 20m with a cone of effect with a duration of 2-3 secs When banshees get a leap attack and it's range is about 15m then that would be perfect synergy
Acrobatic type movement that allows them to move through cover faster. fast vaulting then they can use map cover to get around on foot. I know the current map is rather open but heavier terrain areas are suppose to be added in later maps.
Not to mention Eldar in general are going to be able to move and turn faster. Which will actually be an advantage especially if you're running past a Sprinting Marine.
that is if eldar in EC can move faster and turn quicker then the SM factions .... until we seem them in action we have no real idea what they will be like
I don't think they will make them faster when not sprinting It will be just to hard to fight them in close combat
Banshees are the main Eldar class i am most interested in playing. Specially after watching the DoW 2 intro.
I suppose you're right, but Brent and others have said time and time again that the upped speed and agility is how they're going to represent Fleet of Foot, every time the question is asked they answer it the same way too, so I assume they'll be faster. I mean not to mention not weighing a ton.
Eldar should be faster all around. That's how they are represented in nearly every medium ( tabletop, fluff, other games etc.). However, I think that their "abilities"/characteristics (like acrobatics, general agility, holofields etc. ) should be player skill based or player activated rather then some sort of "racial passive" and/or hidden math permanent buff ( like a rogue's dodge stat in WOW). Mechanically; an expanded/more complicated/subtle version of the current " vault" system where a context specific key stroke activates the "ability" etc. That way players won't just win becasue "OP" ( and thus avoid the terminal spiral of nerfs and buffs ) and those who just run at, stand there shooting at, or try to go blow for blow with SM, CSM, Orks will still get mowed down. Personally, I am all for Eldar having a potentially steeper learning curve. It rewards individual player skill and group coordination and encourages uniquely Eldar play. So Banshee's could work if the player is "good" enough to utilize their kit correctly. Hypothetically:They could sneak around tactically (or with the aid of warlocks or support tech) then charge and hit the deflect skill ( a timed effect) that has been mentioned, get close and use their Wail ability as a targeted "skill shot" which hits as a form of the already in game "suppression", then use their acrobatic/agility skills to kill/avoid damage. Eldar specific and not "OP" as the player has to use the toolkit correctly and the opponent can actively counter nearly all of it.
