Now I know a marine with a bolter can do things like cap a point. Bit this is still too big a gap in performance. It's so easy right now to be melee and you feel handicappex with a gun. Are the devs even aware of this? It seems to get worse, not better, with time.
The mechanics are not working correctly, at the moment Melee got it really easy now, while Ranged characters cannot defend properly. But as @Savij said, balance is not the focus right now Give it some time, it will be balanced at last
In fact, balancing Tactical marines with their ability to cap points is one of the worst game design ideas so far. No, you can't say "it's just alpha". It is designed this way. There are no plans to change it as far as I know. so yes, I am going to spawn as a Tactical to sit in front of a point for a minute. what fun! yes, I am totally not going to re-spawn as another class the second the point is captured gg design
Unless you're on the fortress this isn't a deathmatch. Assaults win fights, Tacticals win games. And realistically; this is Warhammer, getting in melee range of a melee specialist should be a death sentence.
nobody likes the fortress, the game is designed and sold as a CoD type lobby shooter. so I can't even blame the community. the devs catered to these people Tacticals don't win shit. You spawn as one if you want to capture a point, and usually you don't have to because there will be at least one doing it. Once the point is capped you can spawn as something else that is actually interesting
Surely you understand that capturing points is how to win games. Why would you jump around classes every time you want to capture a point? Especially when tacticals have more options and versatility than any other class.
usually, at least one dude in my squad is a tactical or someone just spawns as one when it is needed. I rarely have had to do it. and what do you mean why would I jump around classes? because I want to have fun? the tactical underperforms in everything. see that's the thing with tacticals. In the fictional WH40K universe, you can't respawn nor just magically summon heavy plasma guns or jetpacks. You also don't always know what you are up against. Therefore there is a lot of demand for mid-range, tactically flexible troops. That is why they outnumber everyone else and also why they consist of very experienced troops. But in a generally confined lobby shooter with infinite respawns? nope. this is why they artificially up their value by this "capture" idiocy
