Well, he needs to understand that there may be a reason why some people feel "ignored". For those who troll too hard, there's consequences. One of which, is losing a dev's ear, who doesn't have time for that shit.
So I have to ask, why change anything at all if it is going to have the same effect? If it is netcode making it so you don't register the first shot, it won't matter if it has 3 or 4 shots if the TTK is the same. And doesn't this just open up creating bugs to the gun by changing it's code for no real intentional changes to the performance of the gun? Also anyone familiar with the gun just tap shoots it to bypass the tracking slowdown, which to me defeats the weakness of a heavy weapon. They are suppose to be best ranged damage but their weakness is mobility and should not be able to track close ranged infantry trying to flank them. So would it not be worth adding a half second delay on tracking slowdown so people can't just tap fire to bypass it?
How about we lock this thread and make another when actual numbers are given? Right now we are just going off a concept for a nerf?
Earlier what was winning games for CSM was how much easier it was to deliver healing compare to Apothecaries. I wouldn't attribute AC as the reason why CSM win games (we still need to build a better model). Sure it might contribute as many other things do, but it isn't really the whole point of all this I'm not fixing this for LSM so they stop losing. If only it was that easy. People need to get that out of their head as the reason why I'm doing this. Fixes aren't just to make one side win or lose. People are often complain about not being able to respond to Autocannons and Abaddon's Grace. For months. Brent included. People (and my lead!) are not enjoying an aspect of the game, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't look into it. There is high latency - I wanted to see how much of an effect that has on high alpha weapons (but now I'm going to read @Delgear thread first). I made a plot of the ping that players were experience at presented that to Nathan and the backend coders because I felt it was an important blocker for balance and game mechanics. I'll be putting whatever changes onto UAT when they are ready, and before they go Live so people can test and provide feedback.
I don't play chaos, but I don't mind facing the autocannon. Seriously, this is a topic of nerfing range, when every objective point of view know that what needs to happen is the opposite. The autocannon is nearly perfect as it is. You could even boost it, by reducing heat a bit. If you feel like you don't have a chance against the autocannon, think how much worse it is for the autocannon user whenever anything gets remotely close to him. He can't kill the JPA. He can damage some melee users, but they're instant full health a second or so after making contact with him. This isn't even a balance factor, since the survivability and utility is vastly in favor of melee compared to the autocannon user. And that's the autocannon! The heavy bolter, the deffguns, the shuriken cannons and all of their special weaponry with the exception of the plasma cannon, have it worse. Slightly buff the autocannon, please. Don't nerf it. And while you're at it, make the heavy bolter, plasma deffgun, dakka deffgun, shuriken cannon, tempest launcher, reaper launcher and the Kannon deffgun better as well.
[Off-topic posting removed - Moderatinator] Anyway, as to @Karond , that's an interesting statement since the Autocannon generally takes 2-3 shots to down someone. Adding 1 more simply extends the range of the kill by whatever the RoF is resolved to. As for making all the heavy weapoins more killy, I'm not sure. I think they all serve a purpose and do fairly well in that purpose.
It is a good idea to check how much Latency is impacting the experience. I agree that not being able to respond to weapons isn't fun, but why did you guys design the game that way than? You basically win with any weapon if you get the drop on somebody. There is already a myriad of ways to accomplish killing somebody without them being able to respond. Eldar vehs running you over, Storm bolter to the back or face point-blank, JPA slamming on top of you, ACE Dakka. Even the lascannon, I could go on and on, I mean if dying without being able to respond is the issue then you have your work cut out for you. Maybe you should just raise the basic health pool by 50 points. @MichaelChan
