Attracting Tt Players

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Dreads, Dec 13, 2014.

  1. Just wait for the big cinematic Trailers (like WARs), in addition with a solid product (gameplay videos of the finished/polished game), and the people will come :D

TT players =/= pc gamers, sure it will be some overlap, but the game should be advertised to PC gamers that bastly outnumber TT players...

  3. Pretty much what others have been saying: GW has been NOTORIOUSLY stupid the past years, making a number of questionable business decisions with their TT, and on top of that; handing their IP out to, seemingly, anyone.

When EC was first announced, I was EXTREMELY skeptical, and to some extent, I still am. It's only by seeing how passionate Miguel and the rest of the team are towards the IP that I've started to warm up. I sincerely believe that a lot hinges on this game. They absolutely need to not screw this up. Too many warhammer games have been complete eff-ups in the past. Behaviour doesn't really have a good pedigree when it comes to gaming either. (Sorry guys, I like you and all, but that's the truth). Fortunatly, they've brought in new talent, they seem really passionate about it, and they even have Good Ol' Graham in on it. So I think they have the right mindset to succeed.

I'm just scared to hope, and I think many others are too. That might be why many are still wary.
  4. How to get TT players into EC?
There is one simple answer, get GW to advertise it on their main Website and in White Dwarf.
BHVR gets an article in WD about EC, and it will start to attract TT players.

I was introduced to EC through a 40K Forum, and put it on another 40K forum.

I only recently started learning/playing the tabletop game and while I've enjoyed meeting new people at my club, I've noticed that when I bring up video games, everyone just gets quiet.

Perhaps it's some kind of cultural thing where tt gamers simply don't do video games based on their hobby? All I know is at the mere mention of EC, Deathwing or even the venerable DoW series, it was like I farted at the head wedding table or something - I felt like I made some horrible faux pas ! I had hoped to recruit a few for EC but not one person seemed the least bit interested which really surprised me.
  6. You must have been talking to Young'Uns Attias.

I'm old enough to remember one of the earliest games called Space Crusade by Gremlin Graphics.
I didn't touch the PC games until Dawn Of War came along.
    I played THQ's Space Marine.
And I've been into the TT since 1988, which means I own models that most people have never seen!

  7. I am in fact one of those people that only knew 40K through DOW and Space Marine, but after being on this site for atleast a month, I have slowly begun to look at the different parts of the 40K lore, so it could also be a good way to get new players to learn more about 40K, I will propably never begin on TT but I will look more into the lore as time goes. :D
