The devs said about how the factions will not be fully bound to balance and that they will try to stick with the lore for the most part So im very, very curious about how assymetrical the factions will be, assymetry might bring unbalance but also is a lot of fun imo. So what do you think? Will bolter bullets be as lethal as they are on the lore? Will eldar be faster and nimbler than other factions? Will orks be orks?
I think every mmo/mmorpg that has pvp should have assymetry system. I bet this will work pretty good. They have such a pile lore to look things from. Besides small details can be ''balanced'' to fit in game.
I cant find the quote but i remember the devs saying something to the effect of them balancing EC based on the way tabletop is balanced. That is, with a points system, with each unit worth so much requisition. Here is an example (probably not correct lore wise but im just making a point...) 1 terminator will cost 100 requisition. 10 ork boys will cost 100 requisition. assuming 10 boys vs 1 termie is a fair fight, then it would be balanced resource wise. Please feel free to correct me, as i havent had a lot of time to do fact checking on this, and i dont have alot of tabletop experience. but i swear i read something a month or two ago that collaborates this. Time to trick or treat with my son. Happy Halloween 40k'ers EDIT: I do think some slight balancing would be necessary, ww20l was asymmetrical at the start but crs had to nerf a few things. but i hope they stick with this points system.
My opinion is that each faction should feel different and have their own playstyle but still be balanced in that all factions can fight on equal footing. Copy pasting factions and changing skins is one of the worst things they can do.
