I really hope that the Devs are taking notes on how the assault class was implemented in Space Marine. I really thought the controls and general feel to the assault class were really tight, and it is one of those things that keeps me coming back to the game, just to fly around and chop things up. Granted there were some balance issues like the OP plasma pistol and the Hammer swing glitch, but all in all, I really hope EC can capture the same feel with their jump pack classes.
I would be more interested in seeing if they will have a "block" mechanic. Although I agree with OP about loving being an assault marine, I had always found it kind of strange that an enemy astartes would just stand there and take it. A simple "Block" skill or "Parry" animation would go a long way.
Assault class without jump packs would be nice too. Striking scorpions ? Also, I would very much appreciate it If we could get imperial guard rough riders? explosive tipped lance followed by riding around with a melta gun ! Just imagine the massed assault!!
I just hope they work like they do in DoW2, as in being able to briefly disrupt the light infantry. It's one thing when a CSM in Space Marine can withstand the knockback of an Assault Marine. It's another when you land on a shoota boyz head and they remain standing.
I honestly hope they do not make the assault class like the one in Space Marine. It would be too overpowered, just like in SM. There is a reason why you kept going back to the game, because winning is fun and assault classes did most of the killing and winning. The movement speed was too high (instantly boost up into the air), the ground-slam needs to be removed allong with all of the perks. I would love to play an assault class, but I also know it needs to be better made. No instant boost into high-altitude. Mo fuel so you can climb up buildings. No ground slam, you are not a super hero. Rooftop combat is always fun and I am looking forward to it.
It probably won't be the same as Space Marine simply because the combat will be slower and will be more complex (They mentioned Dark Souls which has blocking, dodging and parrying and the combat is much slower). The main problem with Assault in Space Marine was the speed and how hard it was to counter.
