Banners are always decent. There are some pretty sweet ones that Dire Avengers, at least, use. Might not be appropriate for Striking Scorpions or Swooping Hawks though.
The problem with xeno race… they are still stuck in “different theme color for this faction” . unlike the marines that have developed distinct cultures added into their design… And its so difficult for the designers. How can we even know how a xeno culture looks like? All we can do is use real world reference, and our imagination...
True, but the reason Marines have distinct and developed cultures per chapter is because all the lore and novels that have been written about them and allowed to develop. Eldar have what, only a handful of novels which all seem to struggle to say how the whole race functions (warmasks or no warmasks, genetically stronger and faster than a normal human or just a different alien physiology, the races natural psychic abilities and how should they be described ext), and because of that they have barely touched upon Craftworld culture. I see the big issue with this is that GW hasn't quite defined enough details about the race to allow writers to move forward with creating stories about a Craftworld. So for this game though, I would like to see a bit more customized look per sub faction, similar to SM chapters. If a Dark Angel, Space Wolf, Salamander, Ultra all lined up at a distance, it would be clear who's who as even armor design and appearance would be different somewhat. The only thing we really have as our most obvious depiction of Craftworld is a colored sash around our waste. Sure they will do the odd tweak here or there, but so far the sash will be the most noticeable difference, which to me is too little when all Craftworld Aspects will all be the same color and overall design. Then we have my beloved Warlock, which is only one class but should have his robe colored to his Craftworld as there is no "perceived" aspect color for them. It is annoying that all aspect wariors will be the exact same color and overall look regardless of which Craftworld they come from. They are putting in far more time to do SM/CSM chapter appearance compared to Eldar. I would hazard a guess that overall time spent designing a factions appearnce that Eldar have/will recieve 1/5 or less of the time either SM/CSM factions get. And ultimately I just want some more appearance options than a default static appearance. So a big part of that would be allowing a Craftworld color scheme to your aspect warriors instead of just going the defacto color.
@Nether They are restricted in what they do by what Games Workshop will allow. I think Craftworld-coloured Aspect Warriors was something that has already been shot down. Not certain of that, but I recall that being the case. Possibly we might get an option to do so, but it certainly wouldn't be by default.
Thanks, GW, for being EA mixed with ArenaNet. Very nice of Geedubs to mess with every game they license.
Well if I would own a license wich I developed over so many years I wouldnt act different Anyone who would like to represent it would have to represent it in the right way But I always thought that all craftworlds would have different colors for their warriors
From what I can tell, they seem to be restricting it beyond the actual fluff. If I had an IP people were paying me for, I would damned well let them use everything in said IP.
no... they are only licencing chunks of the IP and holding an iron fist about the throats of those they have allowed into their dungeon to play with SOME of their toys.
The Biel Tan warlock is... a cucumber. And ugly. An ugly cucumber. He needs a bit of black, maybe another shade of green... I mean... less like this: And more like this, for extra awesome: Or like this for ultimate exploding eyes of awesomeness (yes, I know it's a farseer):
