Aspect Warrior Visual Customisation

Discussion in 'Eldar' started by MichaelChan, May 30, 2014.

You missed my entire point. The underwear was a joke, it still demonstrates that you want to be the personal tailor for everyone else that isn't you.

Everything I wrote is preferences/opinion/ideas. Your way would close individual customization full stop in fear of neon colours, that nobody asked for. Yet you keep bringing that up as an excuse. I already said limit the colour slots to two, yet some completely ignore me on this. You just don't want colours full stop. That's the issue.

SWTOR has no relevance to this discussion at all. Why you bring this up? How is having some customization in colours got anything to do with a bikini? And the different colour lightsabers are the most ugly colour combination I have ever seen, still it doesn't hold up in this discussion.

Tanks wearing dancer outfits are still tanks. No outfit or dye will change this. I can instantly know a operative is attacking me based on their skills.

Rogue Trader might end up having the bizarre combinations you speak of in the future.

Reading the rest of your post (sorry I can't quote everything right now) says against customization, because you don't want to see skin on Eldar? Well you're going to hate Dark Eldar because they have a fetish for that kind of stuff.

Then you say the system will overload if there is too many options of Banshee looks? Are you kidding me? So me being red would crash the system? What terrible biased excuse for restriction on colours. This isn't 1980 with barely any ram space for games.

Funny thing should mention no hearts, because this is war. When Biel-Tan has them...

Seems like I responded with a joke myself no?

You've played the victim card here long enough now,
you need to understand that implementing your ideas affects everyone.
Whatever the decision of customization, it affects everyone.
Not just my versions of customizations.

Nobody asked in other games specifically for neon colors. Yet, that is exactly what we see in those games.
How does color customization have anything to do with your underwear?

I made those comments regarding your "there is no such thing as too much customization".

But you can't recognize slave girl from a distance to be a tank by the looks.
Suppose I paint my dark reaper scorpion green, try to customize him to look as scorpion-y as possible and run around with knife+pistol.
People might, momentarily, mistake me for a scorpion.

    It is also immersion-breaking;
SWTOR is in the "Old Republic", where jedi knights wore heavy armor.
Then you are at end-game and the tank engaging Revan is wearing.. a bikini.

    Your Quote-fu is weak!
You keep putting words in my mouth, badly.
I never stated I don't want to see skin on Eldar, or that I'm against Dark Eldar.. at all..

    Aaaaand
stop putting words in my mouth.
No, I'm not saying the system will "overload" due to Banshee options. I'm not saying you being red would crash the system.
I happen to be an electronics-ICT engineer.
Every trinket you want to display, has a cost.
So your customizations shouldn't crash the system, no.
But they could affect the FPS, the loading times,..

    Aaaaand another false argument.
I spoke of the pink+red hearts "camo" in Planetside 2.
Which would still be ridiculous for Eternal Crusade.
Not the Biel-Tan symbol, which is more than merely a heart, and I don't see armors plastered with them.

Auzor, listen up. I'm not going to reply anymore if you start this into a personal vendetta, which you have been doing since your first post. The others have been able to communicate with me in a polite way, while still discussing their problems with others having wide selection of colours. I accept that.

You on the other hand seem to be bent on proving all my discussions invalid, with unrelated topics to validate your opinion over mine. At the same time bringing uncalled for personal prejudice into a topic (calling my posts sarcastic and now accuse me of playing a victim?) .

Really your going to throw accusations at me? I'm not playing anything. For someone that was warned about name calling others, you seem to be needing a time out.

If I said something like that on a BioWare public forum, I'd get a two day banned account with a second warning for turning a discussion into a personal argument. I'll remind you this is a discussion, not a argument. We might disagree, but I'm not going to make it my personal quest to ridicule you. You been doing this ever since I wanted a specific colour. Going out to great lengths to call me a "Golden Smurf".

A joke directed at someone at the expense of another. All my jokes are either directed at myself. Or I might use sarcasm, when trying to get a message across. I never drag someones actual name into it and make fun of them out of biased hatred.

You're not acknowledging differing opinions. I and others have agreed that they may want everyone to be one unified army. I'v already discussed that. You seem to not discuss about anyone except your own discussion so far, which would be fine if you at least did it in a less hostile way.

I really would like to discuss in a civil way about those quotes with you. But you seem to be taking this in a aggressive tone.

Yes, you can. A Jedi guardian will always have a single lightsaber or vibroblade. They will hold the weapon in a certain stance animation (both hands). Compared to a sage, which will hold it with only one hand.

Also that will never happen, because they will restrict armour types. You can't disguise your base class. I will also remind you that we are talking about colours, not changing my Banshee mask with Scorpion or Dark Reaper. You seem to be ignoring that point, and bring in unrelated discussions that would not affect the game-play, because you dislike colour choice being implemented.

I shouldn't be encouraging this off-topic discussion, but Jedi Knights of the Old Republic Era wore plain robes. Same for Sith. And there is no rule that states they must wear armour. They don't require it at all, because they rely on the force to heightened their reflexes and acrobatics. So if that broke your immersion, you must have a low tolerance for the many shirtless force users (not including the dancers) in the lore.

I might of exaggerated the word "overload" just to summarize what you meant, but you did say that the system would not be able to cope with all the different customization on screen. And I'm not "putting words" in your mouth.

It isn't false. I'm getting tired of you calling everything I write as "false," based on your biased aggression. I assumed you didn't want red hearts, because you said they look "ridiculous". And would break 'immersion' because this is 'war'. I was just pointing out that Biel-Tan the most elitist of all the Eldar have a red heart for their Craftworld symbol.

And you might dislike this. But some of those red heart symbols are sometimes imprinted on their Aspect armours and vehicles . So I wouldn't say they are 'not' plastered with them. :p

That's why I said the colours you wear won't matter much, because you will have your Craftworld symbol imprinted on your body. That was one of my favors for having a wide selection, to allow the characters you make to be your own, like the tabletop models.

But you continue to call me "Golden Smurf" like a angry individual your coming across to be. I refrained from replying to you, and encouraged you to do the same if your going to be this way towards me. But you keep on poking, after being warned not to.

I think everyone can agree on that the colour discussion has been exhausted. And in-order to avoid any feud with Auzor, I'm going to stop discussing anymore about colours in general, in the hopes that the thread isn't closed and others can continue to voice their ideas on the different customization for Eldar.

I enjoyed having this discussion with you. Thank you to the ones that acknowledged my opinions.

    So...anyway....

I'm hoping that we might see some of the older styles of armour for the Aspect Warriors e.g. the older Banshee armour.

Again, an assumption that for the basic classes we will be able to swap out parts of their armour a la Space Marine.

A correct assumption evident in the Rogue Trader currently.

    ---off topic----
@Auzor Currently Hvy Wpns classes (Devastator & Havoc) carry their big gun to their side when using a pistol, so no free hand to carry a knife. Can't holster their big guns and it further enforces/balances their role as strong dedicated ranged class. Though given their melee attack animation is poking bashing enemies with the front end of their gun maybe they can get bayonets? Well anyway, for now can assume the same for Eldar Dark Reapers so no knives for them either.
  7. Zoatibix Zoatibix Preacher

Of course. I just wanted to be clear that I think there will be a fair number of complete suits and that I believe we will be able to swap the individual parts around.

For Elite or Hero Classes I wonder if they will be locked down. E.g. I have the DLC for Iron Warriors in SM. It's nice armour but I can't customise it at all. /shrug.

Yupperoni. They have confirmed swapping parts around before and again in today's stream I think. I was distracted so I don't remember fully but I'm pretty sure I heard them say "kit bashing"

Before: in Twitch Episode Summaries page 3 post #26, Warp Echoes - episode 9 @ [29:17] A talk about mixing and matching armor pieces.

Those banshees look dope. One of my favorite Eldar units on the tabletop. Less so since the change to power weapons (so in 5th edition or earlier), but still super fun. I do kinda miss the days when banshees were my anti-terminator unit.

If the masks cause the same suppression effect as the heavy bolter, I will be very happy.

    I'll ignore that other post to close that discussion;

just as an fyi, perhaps you are aware of it already; oh well then it is info for other readers:
    https://www.eternalcrusade.com/faq

Q:What business model will the game use?
Eternal Crusade will be available in retail, for digital purchase, and a free-to-play option we call “Free-to-Waaagh!”. By purchasing a copy of the game, you will have access to it forever with no need for a subscription. There will be post-launch expansions as well as a cash shop for aesthetic customizations and side-grades.

    emphasis added.
I'm still.. skeptical of the Golden Ulthwe Banshee,

however; the last livestream of the devs did state:

    View: https://youtu.be/v_ShXGMYkMQ?t=1m17s

"Will there be fancy/crazy hats for your character?
    -> Yes.
(in the full livestream is a part about a cigar for the Ork.. with the hilarious legal ramifications that smoking might not be allowed for health reasons to be shown in-game etc).

    Ergo :
there will be more customization in-game than I anticipated,
(Golden Ulthwe Banshee: Auzor status: skeptical. )
These customizations will be needed to make the game profitable; you'll have to pay for them.
I'm not sure I'm a fan of the model and I hope the hats won't get too crazy (Space Marines: the different editions of power armor with small variations.. and then what? )
except for da Orks, the comical element of 40k.

(Customization & payments: I suspect the implementation is still a while off. Possibly the devs themselves don't know yet what they're going to sell exactly: "a pot of paint" (unlock a color), "paintbrush your character" **, or a "pre-painted look" (specific camo and color set), or...
I am a bit afraid of the pricing. If the game has no subscription model, cosmetics will have to pay to keep the servers running. )

** just for fun, don't take serious: "paint your own character":
oh dear.. imagine having to pay to fix screw-ups: in-game message:
it seems you've splattered paint a bit lavishly on your model.
Would you like to buy some paint remover? Or, buy a new, default model at X€.
For small details, you can purchase the in-game tool "small brush".
You should consider starting with an undercoat to support your final color; black and white are the most used.

    :p

Space Marine in-game message, aggressive style (after repeated failings):
The codex astartes does not support this heretic paint-blotching!
