You can't go wrong with bling. I notice a lot of Eldar armor has 'sections' on it, so perhaps higher level (veteran) players could unlock gold coloration for those 'strips'? Like the jawline of the dire avenger helmet. Also I know the Saim-hann are the most 'barbaric' of the Eldar and I would expect them to do things like incorporate trophies into their armor.
Well, Saim-Hann wouldn't go to the extend of that form of trophies, that would be something more fitting for dark eldar if they were ever added to the game, and of course for chaos marines and orks.
Ooooh i see, that would make sense although it would likely be to a extent, and would be very nice to see. Sorry, in 40k "trophies" tend to be grisly bits of their enemies.
maybe have different colour patterns or runes and gems, for the different shines. ie burning wings. crystal dawn. ebon wytch
Runes (not floaty Witch Runes), Gems Ribbons and other keepsakes are what Eldar would have for customization. Although Rangers may have bits and pieces of Xeno stuff that intrigued them in one way or another.
That seems perfect, as runes play a large part symbolically for Eldar, and having those runes to decorate their armor would seem only fitting, runes symbolizing different aspect shrines and combat styles, and of course the rune of Khaine itself.
There are alot of arts of Aspect Warriors (Like Dark Reapers) who have lots of small Runes through their body as some kind of "honof" decoration (with emotional meaning to the one wearing it), so it would fit nice.
Also don't forget that all Eldar armor is ancient and each was most likely made by a different bone singer who may have added in their own personal touches and tastes to the armor they made so varying looks wouldn't be unheard of or uncommon even within the same shrine. So having ornate gems, marks, symbol (of all types), or even added jewels, scarfs, or different helmet shapes or plumes would be up to the bone singer even if they stayed with the base design of the aspect warrior armor. Even Eldar weapons are considered works of art and are made by individual bone singers as well so different hilts, handles, blade shapes, or even having jewels or ribbons attached could be an option for customization. Throw in so pretty lighting effects, different eye lens, or even hair/ plume styles and you have a more custom looking Eldar warrior who still fits with his/her shrine while not looking outlandishly different. But as I've seen much or this has been discussed already. As for colours... it really depends on the shrine and Craftworld they come from as earlier discussed. So sticking to the Shrines more popular colour preferences would be wise. Although if certain areas of the armor were allowed to be changed to whichever colour one may like it could be a nice middle ground for players to be able to customize their characters. I.E. having the face plate of the helmet be able to be a custom colour or even certain stripes on the armor itself (nothing fancy since they are supposed to be a part of their aspect and usually favor the colours of the original founders the Phoenix Lords.)
Oh good. That's how I looked upon it. I understand people might want a recognizable Eldar appearance by their lore fluff. But that doesn't necessarily mean everyone has to look like a Stormtrooper. I hope there are tones of customization in both armour and facial appearances, but I'd settle for a scarlet robe, golden armour, and a power lance for my Banshee. I'm also wondering if a Eldar can swap their allegiance to another Craftworld? Because we are still technically one race under different banners/dominions. Like Eldamar, Lindon, Eregion, Grey Havens, Lórien, Rivendell, Mirkwood, Valinor, Tol Eressëa. I don't think you could swap sub factions there, but perhaps this will be a special case.
