How it connects to Avengers ? Yes, reapers can "see" through the muzzle of their weapon, but Avenger targeter is another story. It is on the shoulder of DA warrior and i presume it functions slightly different than Reaper ones as shuriken catapult not a reaper launcher and wield in a different way. We still need an explanation how DA without helmet gets the info from targeter(some sort of mind-link maybe ?), but nothing wrong with DA without helmets. And if we take a mind-link explanation it would work for Reapers too. Personally, i would preferred the helmeted version, but if someone want to take a bolter round in the unprotected head or sniff some poison gas/vacuum - it's his choice. I know that rather won't be implemented, but i so want to see that; choose one: a) You get a helmet and you not suffocate if the atmosphere is poisonous/missing, headshots not kill you instantly(or have chance not do it) and you can get away a little groggy but alive. or b) Take off your helmet and get +20% to coolness, instakill headshots and free lessons in vacuum-breathing.* *As poisons not an issue for SM, partially for Orcs and Chaos, and Eldar can have antidotes in medkits(shut up! they ancient and advanced race that values their life above all else, they should have such things), they not included in option "B", but still can pose a treat to your health. You can call it "developing poison resistance" though.
To helmet or not to helmet: Striking scorpion mandiblasters could become shouldermounted too. Helmetless space marine sarges have been justified with localised forcefields etc for the head. I'm not against helmetless running around in an MMO. However: 'display helmet off' also means an enemy won't see the 'type' of helmet you are wearing. I suppose that won't matter. I do hope for varied 'headgear', some of which for eldar should be class specific: no dire avenger with a dark reaper or striking scorpion helmet. However, some rebreater/oxygen masks as helmet, partial helmets, 'short' helmets without the 'crest', 'short' helmets with crests, various 'pointy hats' with & without crests. colouring options for the crest, including color patterns Different curvature for some helmets: in some MMO's: the difference between helmet A and B can be the faceplate, one having an extra horn, etc. But, I'd love to see variety in how wide the helmets are, curvature around the cheekbones, .. likewise for armor: customization is nice, but at some point you notice 'this plate is in all the armours'; all armors started from the same base model and got a few bits tossed on. a lot of paint schemes. As far as I know, space marines don't do 'camouflage' paint schemes. For Eldar, I would however like to see paint schemes with camo-y patterns, even in aspect/craftworld colors, besides 'upper relief of armours is Dark Blue, lower relief is light blue'. 'Relief' patterns should of course, also be available (and probably be the default) I hope the armor will look and feel eldar-y: Space marine armour is incredibly 'bulky'. For eldar armor, this should not be the case, but at the same time, it should still be armour, and not look like a T-shirt that has an armor pattern painted on. That is an issue with some MMO's, and some eldar artwork even, armor that looks like 'slimfit' clothing; way to thin to offer protection. A delicate balance..
Well, my immediate reaction is please no. Eldar armour is fabulous. It being uniform across the board makes all the Eldar fabulous. Having some tit with the biggest pauldrons he can find and the skimpiest leggings walking around would be the wrong kind of fabulous...maybe. So I would ask to keep armour in sets while having a plethora of small customisations available. Subtle beauty, not garishness. For the people who really need a large clearly visible across the battle-field customisation that they feel justified in paying for I would advise customisable pennants. Like the Eldar already use, like the ones the Samurai sometimes had on their backs. Could be an area for some pretty great creativity if all the known Eldar runes get included and then, add some of your own stuff on top of it. Or maybe, the artists will make everything look fantastic no matter how it combines together and I'm just fussing over nothing.
Please no. It's safe to say the aspect warriors who actively use their helmets for battle should have no such option to remove them (Banshees screaming without their mask really bugged me in Dawn of War). I think the only ones who don't have weapons and their targeting systems built in their helmets are Dire Avengers and depending on the lore you follow they still need the helmet for getting their game face on (and even then why would they not be protecting their heads?). A thing they could do for Aspect customisation that's relatively lore harmless is scarves/arm bands like in this: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/122/5/7/image_by_ning-d7gv7fj.jpg I don't why, but I think that looks great.
How about a compromise? AFAIK, all Eldar helmets are kind of like Darth Vader's - a helmet which serves as a 'frame', and a 'mask'. Banshees, for example, need only their masks to yell, not the rest of their helmets - so you could wear the 'mask' without the 'frame' as an option. The other way round with Striking Scorpions - they only need the 'frame', and can opt not to wear the 'mask'. Personally, I wouldn't mind not being able to remove helmets, but I hope you can. I know it's stupid, but I kind of like seeing my character's face in a game. This whole 'if you don't wear your helmet, you get headshotted' thing isn't something I buy into either way, considering most weapons we'll see on the battlefield will penetrate them anyway. Edit: On a different note, it's kind of interesting that every Eldar sympathisant seems to have a different view of the Eldar.
It's not a bad idea, but I think it's the other way around. The frame of the helmet is what holds the necessary gear, the banshee scream looks like it could come from the openings to the side of the mask, or at least if could be modified that way. The scorpion blasters are clearly to the sides, and every other aspect warrior could have targeters over their eyes DBZ/Google Glass/Garrus-Style. The warlock could have the neck brace looking thing of their helmets that helps them cast their powers but with their face exposed. It could be an option, but it should be obligatory that if players choose to go helmet-mask-less, then their war mask is painted on (which could offer many more customization options by being able to choose from many war paint styles). But would you make it so that players who choose to go helmet-less take more damage to the head? I think it's only fair, this is War, if you want to go helmet-less you better be damn confident on your skills. In that regard, seeing someone without their helmet on can be seen as either stupid or a sign of how confident they are on their skills.
Swooping Hawks: Different pattern wings (old metal minis, modern-style, maybe some altogether new ones based on things like etruscan, byzantine, or greek depictions of wings Bandoliers Different cuts of sash (left-hand knot, right-hand knot, loincloth, etc) feather patterns
That is part of Eldar charm. They have incredible variety: from paper-thin guardians to heavy-armored Spiders. You can adapt them for almost any playstyle and they fit perfectly. As for helmets - don't forget that they provide life-support(breathing in vacuum, protection in hostile/uncomfortable environments and of course, shield your important organ from stray bullets). They not for decoration only !
