They got the same reason their traditions such as the Space Marines and Imperial Guard: It keeps them alive :X Basically you should go into Eldar with the premise of typical Elves in Fantasy universes, that will be a good start. Just less pricks (at least the way Jori, I and co. play them)

Name: Anduthir Zarin Age: 196 Craftworld: Biel-Tan Aspect: Striking Scorpion (Shadowed Blade Shrine) Wargear: Shuriken Pistol, Scorpion Chainsword, Mandiblaster, Plasma Grenade (x1 per mission) Aspect Armor Non-Aspect Personality: Anduthir practices in his free-time designing various plans to remain calm. As a child he always loved to make new twists on classic games, and that stuck to his persona. Re-inventing classics such as 'Kehlorem' (Fanon, super-complex Eldar version of 'Chess'), Bali'ur (3 Dimensional Eldar version of Tic-Tac-Toe) and other games. Sometimes his design curiosity also goes into theoretical tactics of war ever since he joined the Shrine of the Shadowed Blade, evacuation routes, but also harmless games such as Isha, Vaul, Khaine. (Isha beats Vaul, Vaul beats Khaine, Khaine beats Isha.) one of his many attempts to get the youth, even though he is not much of an adult himself, more interested in mythology and history. While being playful in essence, he is rather shy around people. People would have to approach him in order he could start a conversation. Aspect Personality: Under the War-Mask, Anduthir becomes a much changed person. Purposeful, strong, self-esteemed and proud. He cares little for possibility of failure, believing he is superior to all their foes. As long as the Eldar fight united, that is. While enjoying to make plans, he prefers to make them up on the get-go. Plans have to be thrown away and often re-planned depending on how the situation changes. Thus one most be flexible to act, just like the Aspect of the Striking Scorpion teaches. Sometimes one must stay in the shadows, patiently. And sometimes one must unleash all their prowess in close combat. But to decide when to remain hidden and when to strike... That can only be decided during the moment, not ahead of time. History: Anduthir is native to Biel-Tan and grew up with an Artist as Father and Navigator as Mother. His father always told him to unleash his creativity in whatever shape and form it may come. He likes to paint from his imagination, letting himself be inspired from whatever he sees and feels at certain times. His mother always preached to listen to those wiser and older, to not act rash but calmly. She was one of the navigators on the Craftworld, sometimes on smaller cruisers, shipping diplomats from A to B when there was no direct webway connection possible or meetings were on planets without access to the webway. Respecting both he became somewhat intrinsic and self-focused. He had friends in an amount he could count on a single hand, but he trusted them well. However even around those he was the quiet type and more of a follower than a leader. It was just not his thing and liked more to help out everyone else than trying to get others to help him, after all. He didn't need help, with anything. Be it from chores at home, to classes in school. He always figured out everything himself, even though it was not the best an Eldar could achieve at times, he did just fine - that is what Anduthir believes anyhow. Relationships: 1 Player (best friend, if anyone wants), Painter-Artist Father (Maru Zarin), Navigator-Mother (Cereen Jeredemyr), 4 good friends: Leymour (Male, On the Path of the Scholar) Tur'tel (Female, On the Path of the Mariner) Xash (Male, On the Path of the Outcast [=Corsair in this case], not on Biel-Tan but coming often by) Kassimir (See what I did there @Casavay also the link on 'Dreamer' just for you!? - Male, On the Path of the Dreamer)
