Hi, bought the game last week, and I've played like 6-7 hours so far. Well I call myself out until next update, keeping my fingers crossed something will change. I play mostly Ork and it's just... unplayable. Melee enemies are next to impossible to hit as they glitch and warp all the time. It's even worse with our imprecise guns: we can barely have targets in the crosshair, and still bullets do not hit them. It feels like our weapons lack accuracy (which is ok) but at the same time they also lack range, rate of fire and damage. Today Eldar just ran among us spamming their attacks, and we needed 2-3 Shootas focusing fire to kill one. Then add after patch 23 they literally oneshot us. Aren't we supposed to the toughest guys kings of melee combat? I haven't won one single melee fight so far. Striking Scorpions and Banshees for some reasons kill me in one shot, I cannot even react. When they dodge or attack from our point of view it looks like they are warping: we fire, but they are not where we're aiming at. On the other hand SM and CM have their ultimate Heavy Bolter: it kills the same way in close quarter or from hundreds of meters. Today it happened twice that I was already dead exactly the same moment I respawned. Seriously, this game cannot be launched in this state. Every time I win a match as an Ork it feels like the enemies just lacked the coordination to go on the capture points all together. But match stats are depressing, if we look at the kills they literally disintegrated us. Last match I've played today Orks won... but Eldars had almost twice our kills.
As another ork lover I understand, this patch kinda hosed some things and fudged balance up again. Try playing as the other races for a bit so you know what they can do and(hopefully) things will be smoothed out in a bit. Or just keep chugging away as ork and yell waaagh a lot, it seems to help to yell that
Save up for a klaw. Immediately make a klaw loadout once you have it. Now you won't be able to beat Eldar 1v1 in a melee scrap (klaw is too slow) but if you get the jump on them or if another lad is in melee and you manage to hit them you will krump em so good slaanesh won't even want their soul.
Does it really matter? Today I spent another 40 minutes playing and we didn't win one single match. Not even when we had to defend. Once the match was lost after 2 minutes. CM steamrolled us and the sum of their kills more than doubled our result Unlocking stuff then entering a match and being instashotted by a weapon called Placeholder. That's how is playing Orks right now. Is this supposed to be counterbalanced by the WAAGH effect? Because that thing does nothing. It triggers maybe once every 4-5 fights, often ehrn it's too late, and it doesn't change the tide of the battle at all...
Agreed on the waaagh effect not being very useful, perhaps when the commander can activate it it will prove more useful. I find it very much a double edged sword, yes we are faster and have a tiny bit of protection, but if we go down we die instantly which renders docs useless.
I know most of my guildmembers aren't playing right now or if we do it's only a game or two at a time. Not because we're busy, but because we're frustrating at the terrible ork mechanics. How is this game fit to launch in a week? The world map tells the story in itself. Orks are losing badly to both chaos and eldar. Space marines are fairing a bit better but they've needed buffs for sometime.
Can only agree with what's already been said, really; last night I played three matches in a row against the Eldar, and what happened? It was three - nil to the Eldar, of course. I saw a Banshee take out six Orks in as many seconds, and heavy bolters in another match simply mowing us down at the capture points. Maybe they'll change it in the next patch, maybe not, but - even though I am no computer master - I do not see how it is so hard to get the basics of 40K lore into the game and balance it out like a more complex game of rock, paper, scissors. Orks stronger in melee and with more durability (toughness/health) - they survive without heads, for Morks sake! CSM/SM should likely have the balance between good armour and good overall toughness, not over the top but good classes/factions for a beginner to play. Eldar, well, faster and more agile than other races with more advanced weapons, but with weaker armour and toughness - at least in melee. As I said, I'm no expert, but from a laymans point-of-view it confuses me as to if it is really that difficult to implement. Sure, no doubt some people would complain in spite of it being accurate to the setting, but there's only so many one-hit-kills by a Space Elf that an Ork can take.
