They better give gav thorpe treatment to eldar on their turn I was quite expecting the explanation to why the planet have such an importance to amass such forces in the short story alas it was not explained
The Eldar are probably there to protect something or keep something from the other factions Space Marines are on the planet to deal with the Tyranid threat, like Space Marines do. Then they get caught up in all the other stuff Chaos is there because WHY NOT Also, maybe they want the stuff the Eldar are protecting Orks get attracted to the commotion and just want to fight everyone and everything
I thought the story was very detailed, and showed very well of how the Ultramarines deal with the Tyranids due to their experience in both the first and second Tyrannic wars. Though it seemed very bold of castor to take on that Carnifex head on, he kinda reminds me of how reckless Captain titus was in the Space marine game despite that stuff of how the Ultramarines usually follow the codex Asartes to the letter. ^_^
Wait are these guys Members on the EC Forums or something? Because then that is really neat, since it kinda helps Show how rewarding the devs can be to their fans. Can't wait to read the other short stories!
Yeah i don't know if a name like Erobar would be Scary for a Lord of change like me in Warhammer 40k, so I'm probably out of luck also. Unless someone can come up with a better, more frightening name.
I'd say a word about terminology. Actually, this one is not a concept art. It's called promo-art, as well as all previous arts we've seen for EC. Promo-art promotes, yes, it advertises and conveys general ideas and feel. And concept art in good companies is a depiction of how exactly the thing will look in game. Well, it goes through stages and includes some search, but the final concept art released to the public is usually the exact depiction, that which is thoroughly followed when modeling, texturing and further production of the asset. I'd very much like to see the real concept arts for EC. As for the story, it wasn't bad at all, though it really lacked tension, as it often happens with Spehss Mahreens. It must be boring to be so much over-the-top for your enemies)))
I believe the biggest reason why there are multiple factions present is to emphasize the fact that this is a MMORPG.... Meaning, there are more than likely, going to be multiple factions working to secure any given objective in the game at any given time. Plus, if a particular outpost is being raided by nids and there are not a lot of players to defend it but a few NPCs and Actual Players than it promotes the fact that the outpost can and will be reinforced by another squad. Most likely, the squad doing the reinforcing, if they arrive together like in the story, will be of the same faction, hence the arriving squad being of the same faction and spawning from the same location.
