a lot of this question will be answered and resolverd when a proper closed beta starts. the combat format work: that's the point of the prealpha: obviusly must be tuned and balanced for a mmo and for the other feature.
If they didn't use Unreal Engine maybe they could have done something better with it, the map size and the whole classes bit. Medic classes can include good team game play options. They did with PS1-2 and BF series. Of course you need a proper map size and things like that to make it. If they added Apothecaries, it would have been great. I don't understand the part where you said ". In a game where it's killed or be killed adding a healer, might be a poor aesthetical choice" though, i mean every Multiplayer game works that buddy. Another thing was Dreadnought DLC and all the other ones, they should have added that content onto the game.. anyway with P2P gaming, all i saw when i played the game when it first came out was Raptor's or assault marines jumping around trying to get kills with chainsword's. This went on for a couple of months. I joined the army for a year. Came back, of course until then game died. I played on PS3 and PC. Last time i looked i didnt find many people on PS3. At the moment 146 people are playing SM on PC. I would love to see my ping on some cases and finally learn "did i do something wrong ? or was it the connection ? ".
Agreed. And to that point, pre-alpha/alpha - if playable by fans rather than just in house - should be mostly about weapon balancing and technical issues. By the time this gets to beta, we should already have a pretty good idea of what weapons are like, how much damage they do, ranges, etc... While this is an MMO, it cannot function like other MMO's do because we're talking about hundreds, if not 1000's, of players fighting in a relatively small area roughly at the same time. If they make the mistake of having certain pieces of wargear end up too strong (or too weak), they will become the cookie cutter "spec" (or never be used). That could absolutely destroy things. Ex: Meltas in Space Marine.
It's not really opinion when it was pointed out by the larger community on the SM forums as well as places like /vg/ and reddit. The singleplayer was pretty awesome but the multiplayer was lacking a lot for a good number of people.
No, the combat was largely terrible and suffered heavily from an absolutely horrendous netcode. It's hilarious that mods like the Exterminatus mod for the Source Engine got combat between the Tyranids and Astartes down better than Space Marine- which wasn't close at all to the tabletop or the fluff. Astartes do not 'roll' like they're tops. That and the weapons in-game weren't anything like their fluff counterparts.
I wasn't aware of this mod by the way. Looks really awesome for a amateur mod, Bolter, flamer and everything. I am gonna try this. I don't know if i will find anyone to play it with.
Looks great I must admit. Now hoping for the balance between chaotic battles and strategic gameplay. By the way... Gotta love those executions.
No point in taking cover behind a wall when your armour is thicker than the bloody wall.... The Reason I never really got GoW. Still nice to shoot your way through those locust guys. The reason I should have got GoW.
