If plasma cannons had a tell, like a steaming power supply or something, that let everyone nearby know that you were about to go nuclear, I would totally support the inclusion of Gets Hot.
Apparently bolters are really good with the right mods =s I got blasted in literally three shots by someone yesterday and it didn't look like he was doing stalker bolter things. I think you are just supposed to have some sort of amazing ammo or something from the boxes.
