Are we going to talk about the weak bolters?

It's axiomatic: any time somebody says they put 20 rounds into something, you can be sure that they missed with 15 of them.

  3. and orks need to put just as many rounds into you

just like chaos has to put just as many rounds into you

    only exception is the Eldar....

So what would make you happy? Buff the bolter so it takes out guys in like ten shots?

I don't know what y'all are smoking, but clearly I need to get me some.

I think the Bolter is AWESOME (and this is coming from a guy who plays mainly Ork with MANY hours using both the shoota and big shoota). I can pop into a room and nail headshots like crazy with a bolter. Hell, I think my record is killing 4 guys in a single capture room with one extended magazine (not the barrel mag, the level below it). Granted, two of them weren't shooting at me until after I killed the first two guys, but if you catch someone by surprise anywhere withing 50m, it feels like I've already sentenced them to death if there's no one else to stop me.

The rate of fire combined with its accuracy makes it amazing for consistent headshots and laying targets down in short order (so long as you're actually hitting what you aim at). I don't even have to burst fire to do this if they're within 30m. I suspect a lot of the people who are unhappy with bolter dps are just holding the trigger and aiming at the body...that's going to take MUCH longer to take someone down.

...and why aren't you aiming at their head? You'll do WAY more than 22 damage per shot. Will probably take 15 shots or less, with some missing.

Let's take a moment to appreciate that 15 shots from a space marine's boltgun ought to be enough to kill something the size of a mawloc, and we're unloading it into a single orc like we're firing an autogun.

Why don't you go to the Garrison and do some math on headshots, eh? You'll find it takes fewer shots than that, I only say 15 because I average 3ish, often 4 kills with one 60-round magazine (vs. live targets in a capture point-sized room that aren't running away from me like crazy); this being an optimal situation where I don't die, I'm not being focused by multiple opponents, and there's 3-4 targets to shoot). I still usually have bolts left in my magazine when I'm done, too. Of course, it's going to take more rounds at longer ranges where you're less accurate.

...and it sounds more like what you want to be a bit OP, maybe? Which doesn't work as this is a PvP game and game design needs to be about fun for all parties, not just the one guy that wants to instantly blow up everyone else. It takes quite a few more shots for every other race to do the same damage, but that's the difference in weapon profiles at work.

If it's a lore-thing, I completely understand. I get that people want fluff-friendly effects, but that crosses over most-shittily in a game where players are up against one another. Otherwise, we'd have the no wind-up insta-shot Lascannons in Space Marine where everybody just got instantly vaporized no matter the range (5m or 300m)...and that was bullshit.

    1) Last two days when playing LSM vs CHSM i usually don't see bolters. Only Mele dudes and dudes with autocanons or plasma. So boltgun may not exist for CHSM.

    2) Shota/ big shota in the hand of Orcs is better weapons at any useful/realistic range (bigger damage, bigger clip, comparable accuracy, I am not sure about ROF but you get the picture. )

    3) Orc have more HP and shota have bigger damage than marines so you actually need less shots to kill marine that other way.

So answer to your question is yes. Because I want tacticals with bolter to have role other than simulating guardsmans
  9. I like how you kindly ignore the fact our hit boxes are the size of a dump truck.

The bolter is fine, its only crummy against Eldar

Go into garrison with a scoped weapon, hip aim at a Tyrranid Head, now zoom, you will find that the zoom focus is to the left, instead of where you had it.
