Do Orks come in various shapes and sizes? Or do they only come in identical shapes with various sizes? How much variety is there among Orks in terms of body-shape, face etc.? (Flashy bitz don't count.)
Probably loads, but a skinny Ork isn't really what we would call "skinny". I remember that in the Xenology book, an Ork was put in a sealed cage and observed for a certain amount of time. That Ork grew obese due to the lack of fighting it had done. Also, Bad Moonz are known to be pretty plump for Ork standards. Because they are more Shooty than Choppy, they lack the exercise. Orks are very diverse in their facial features, just look at the models. From larger tusks, to the size of their ears.
Skinny or fat Orks would be dead Orks- so they look more or less the same. Anyway there is no real definition for them ( regarding myths, tales or etymology), Games Workshop gave them a little lord-of-the-ring-touch: the grew like mushrooms in moist und murky terrain on the ground; increasing though spurs (there are even no female orks...except those ugly cheerleader in Bloodbowl-TT ^^) , and growing through battle. Even deadly wounds heal, lost arms get stapled, other things just grow in again...so the only difference is the pur size. The biggest ones are the hardest, and because the greenies just live for stomping and killing, they all grew like hell...or die trying. Maybe some are lazy...but beeing skinny or fat means less pugnacity, and thats unorky http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page one nice link btw Or just read an ork codex (esp the previous versions are very cool written and funy)
Bad moon orks are considered plump but not fat.. This pic is of a bad moon burna boy you can see from the pic that he's a bit more rounded than shaped. And then there's a Goff burna boy sorry about the size difference of the pics but you can see the Goff boy is a bit more defined with his muscles while the bad moon is kinda rounded and plump around the gut. Skinny are not really a thing since they usually end up dropping dead early on in life if they don't bulk up quickly.
Skinny Orks are usually signs of an Ork that is clearly dieing from severe lack of fighting in it's diet. Much like how humans need food, Orks need to fight. So an Ork can literally be starved from a fight and end up wasting away into nothingness as a result. The grim darkness of the far future is perfect for Orks, with there being only war there's no lack of fighting, which means not starving to death for the Orks. Now as for being plump and fat, that's usually signs of severe mucking about, or not enough practice with a Choppah. Much like what @Dakiaris said about Bad Moonz mainly being pudgier then most Orks is due to their heavy reliance on Dakka to the point that they forget how to Chop properly. Flashgitz in particular get sort of rotund due to their fascination with their flash that they don't excersise their Choppin muscles and just stick with firing away at a distance. You need to keep a balanced diet between Shootin and Choppin to keep those muscles healthy and strong.
...I wish I could make my Ork fat. Watching his belly jiggle as his dakka busted skulls from over yonder. Hee hee.
On the subject of fatness. "Youz da flashiet around, youz have da best dakka and a proppa orky stoutness in yer gut, now tell me dat ain't da life!" -Boss Nadzdregg, Bad Moon Warlord Bad Moons are of course the biggest culprits as food is one the biggest expenditures of teeth amongst their clan. Of course you could easily find a Deathskull Warboss, his legs replaced with wheels or trakks, while still strong in arm and neck his gut has suffered a bit due to the lack of "proppa slogging". In short, most definitely, of course skinny is most certainly a relatively term when it comes to orks. While all orks have an impressive set of muscles, some oddboyz lack a bit in the physical departmnet; most notably Weirdboyz and madboyz. Weirdboyz are the most obvious culprit as they actively avoid fighting for fear of a really nasty "Ead Banging" incident. Of course, as they are forced on to the battlefield, and are infused with regular doses of pure orkishness, they still get their fill in the end, but tend to look a bit leaner than other orks. Madboyz are on the other, while not as whole, can still suffer from a bit of weediness, if only for the fact that their many and evershifting psychosises can oft leave them in a confused daze for hours or days (not to mention thinking they're a snotling, running into the woods screaming, actually thinking, etc, etc...)But not only does it make them skip some fights but it also makes them forget to eat a proppa meal. A full ork is a healthy ork! Of course, this is just a generalization as their are always exceptions.
whats with all of these silly threads "Do Orks make friends with other orks", "Do Orks kill children, non combatants"
