Are Orks being portrayed as the poor mans race? I love the orks but being the only race with a f2p kind of gives them a negative vibe from the get go. Thoughts?
The reason why the Orks are Free-To-Waagh is so with a bunch of Freebie Boyz storming the front with the Nobz comin' in behind, you have the feeling of a true green tide crashing against the fort you wanna take. at least in theory.
In truth there will be far fewer WH40K fans playing orks than there will be playing Spess Mahreens and Chaos Space Marines. Simply because there are far fewer of us. With that said, all ork fans will likely be purchasing the game and will be playing Nobs; initially the population density will likely be "lore friendly". As for Free to Play Boys, truthfully... there are quite a lot of people who don't pay a cent and drift from free to play game to free to play game. 60% of the population on Planetside 2 are made up purely of people who pop into the game to try it out for a week, but that density is high enough to keep things active for the dedicated players; same is the case for many other F2P games as well. Having that group restricted to orks in theory balances out the population density of orks, in theory anyway; one would be afraid that it would make orks overpopulated. I honestly don't think warhammer 40 000 is popular enough for that to be an issue, although everyone would like that to be an issue, more money equals more development and polish. I will tell you one thing for sure, we orks are likely going to be the least toxic community since we all pretty much get along with each other (even though we like to fight to see who is the toughest and has the right to be in charge ). Along with the poncy Eldar of course, also both factions will be flooded with people interested in lite RP.
I hope they get the waaaagh and dakka mechanics right, as in being very powerful, as well as all the other boss buffs like you saw in Dawn of War 2(AOE health regen, ork boyz randomly spawn in around the boss, ect).
I heard Behaviour did some research and came to the conclusion that 40% of the players will go into Space Marines. Judging by the forum topics (and general tabletop/gaming trends), I'm going to say that 25% will go into Chaos and 17.5% will go to Orks and Eldar (not including F2P). That's not to say that Orks are the worst race by any means. They'll probably be one of the least populated by playing players, but as Psyctooth said, they will be mostly made up of people who enjoy the faction's mechanics (which already seem unique) and/or enjoy the faction's background. F2P just adds an extra angle to the Orks that, in my mind, is actually very unique and helps it. But I suppose we'll have to see what happens.
Iz da boss! ....cuz....cuz Iz da only wun 'ere *cry* Im still flip flopping. Cause i know ill have to get my hands on the different races to know who Im going to play. but i do love my Orkz. Probably the most fun race in the game. My hope is that some of the f2p people will love the Orkz so much after trying them that even if they buy the game they will come back to the boyz they know. If not..dat leaves more uv dem humies and da spikey humies for da rest of us! and da less of us dere iz...da more teef for me. Hahahaha.
Well if there is a small population of orks, we'll likely forgo brutal but cunning and instead take up cunning yet brutal tactics. (for those who are not orks, that means forgo charging at the enemy with a strategy in mind for sneaking up on the enemy then announcing ourselves and then beating them up.)
Da simple t'ing iz da wez orkz are simple an' straight forward, wez don't muck about usin' pouncy wurdz an' "Iz got dis fancy badge, you hav' do whut I sayz." Wez Orkz we knowz whut we want, wez don't need any fancy cradling like ya wee-panzeez hahaha. Like Psyctoof said, wez just have ta be moar kunnin'.
as long you're not with the emperor, you're are always stronger, the imperium is wek, and who ever fight against the imperium is strong
