Thanks for all the details, it's very interesting. I've had a few more goes with the Vanilla model but find it a bit lacking, I still get murdered by axes in 2 hits and generally get less kills than just using a bolter. I think once I've found some kit for it I will have another crack.
Grav guns are fun but take practice. If you use them alone and offensively be prepared to get targeted. increased armor is nice to have. Another nice tactic is to team up with a melee bro, especially a ground assault. You cans low while he closes the distance with his shield up.
The unique grav gun is actually pretty decent damage wise. On the whole keep in mind grav guns are really a support weapon regardless of if it's a pistol, rifle or cannon. Their real intention is to slow a target down, dealing damage as you do so, while others are supposed to help you kill the target. The cannon and rifle tend to be quite handy for fighting eldar vehicles as they can slow them down enough for you to have an easier time avoiding getting run over or letting someone get close enough to plant a melta bomb.
Playing Grav gun as a supporter...and carrying a melta bomb., it's easy way to be top score on the round. You won't get top kills, but in terms of tatical support, you'll do A LOT good to your team. And i hate going against grav guns...
The DPS is now 130 DPS on the grav gun with the damage mod, which in my opinion is completely ridiculous with 400 penetration and 65% infantry slow. Vehicle DPS is 260 on the grav gun. I don't know if the person who authorized the buff even realized they had a damage mod in the game. That should be 3 seconds time on target to kill a standard infantry class regardless of toughness or health pool, or 4 seconds against a veteran. Grav cannon infantry DPS is now 220 with the damage mod. Vehicle DPS is 326 DPS. Sorry, but if that's not enough for you on a support weapon with 50% vehicle and 65% infantry slow that eats ork shields, GTFO. I can only assume that the devs didn't realize these damage mods exist because they're in a 30k requisition box. If they got rid of the mods or rebalanced them this might be slightly less retarded.
When i personally read, the grav gun dmg buff...i thought...WHY??!!?!?? As if the slow was not enough.... If they want more damage, they would have to mod for it. And also, it would be interesting, if Slow was a Mod... Since they are re specializing classes, like, sorcerers bringing down weapon, and having a mod to improve them.Apothecaries, and PeeBoyz. So remove the slow from the grav gun, and make it a mod, so it's either slow, or damage. pick one, not both
I only use it against Eldar, yet often the DPS is too bloody slow to kill a tank on your own.. Support weapon and less effective compared to the Melta
Grav weapons should be even better against Eldar now, Eldar got smashed in durability which means speed is more vital, so having a guy with a grav gun in a group should be very lethal if used right against them It should still lose 1 on 1 in a gun fight though unless your using a Grav Cannon so I would stick with a buddy as much as possible as usual.
When did this grav weapon buff happen? I'm looking at them in game right now and their damage is still 90 and 180 respectively. Is this a UAT update?
