Now I love the fact Eldar got some much needed cosmetic attention. However I feel the recent veteran rework gave Eldar the short end of the stick.

Not only do we get less armour than all other veterans (which is fine) but we glow like Christmas Trees. I feel this is an unintentional nerf to our veterans.

LSM got different coloured helmets and tabards. It's a bit hard to tell, but a veteran is noticeable.

Meanwhile Eldar veterans glow. And it feels like a massive "shoot me" sign. This is especially true for my Revered Hawk. Who shines so bright that my stealth capabilities are severely limited. Plus it makes sniping me in the air that much easier due to the light show.

    Thoughts?

@NoahWard great job this patch. Could you consider lowering the brightness of Eldar veterans?

  2. Yes. I also consider giving a stealth-focused class (The Scorpion veteran) big, obvious glowing eyes, MAY have been a mistake.

You're looking at this the wrong way. We're not so bright that we're obvious targets, we're so bright that we no longer require sun rifles to blind the enemy.

Yeah.. Base on the Loadout screen the Warlock was the one I thought would be too much like a lighthouse.

I do like the aura around them. It protrays the sense of immense psyker energy. So maybe instead of just each individual soul stone being a lamp, do something with the aura? Maybe cheat in the Maggon Warp Storm effect or something? A different color for each class?

Also, the FD and SS one's look absolutely gorgeous. They can totally stay the same. I mean FDs are bright orange and work with fire and explosions. They could have a corona like the sun around them and not be more noticeable anyway... And players don't see the ominous red glow of the SS stones because of stealth.. I would know, I played with the burning rune on mine for months, doesn't make a difference luckily.

My Swooping Hawk though... Brighter than the sun :p

The other part of this argument is also the fact that the colors don't match very well sometimes. The shoulders on my FD glow blue for some reason which I can only imagine is a glitch.

The Burning Rune should match the colors of whatever the soul stones are glowing. Or maybe we as players should be able to choose what color the stones glow (and other "glow" effects). I'd be very willing to have that level of customization at some point. A lot of what we have clashes with each other. So nice first pass, definitely points to what needs to be improved.

They look great but I just wish looking good was not locked behind veterans. Even if we just kept the glowing eyes or something.

You can look cool, for 1-2 mins then back to your leotards boys and girls .....
