One first thing should also be knocked off here as well on 'judging' Chaos and its forces of Chaos Astartes and the Lost and the Damned- there is no good nor is there evil. Such ideas are adjectives invented by humanity that hold no absolute value, ever. All they are are subjective opinion-based ideas through which we sort how we positively and negatively view things in life. There is no such thing as 'repenting' to be good- merely fulfilling a personal wish for someone either with different morals or morals you held previously to forgive you in their eyes. With W40K this is changed up slightly, as warp entities are capable of claiming your soul for their use. Repenting and redemption in this case would not mean seeking another's forgiveness/acceptance into their personal views, but rather wrestling back the ownership of their soul. Which in this case would most likely always end up with a no, considering the only warp entities capable of contesting Chaos are Gork and Mork. Also, Yahweh doesn't exist in W40K canon. IIRC, the GEOM is the origination of most modern human religions as he either created them directly or spurned another to do so. Although considering Yahweh's origin in real-life as the Canaanite god of war, Khorne actually might be counted as the origination of the three main religions surrounding Yahweh in W40K.
Redemption....To mean that one who has fallen can lift their sight again to the light and live in the glory of purity. Such an oxymoron when dealing with the tired fools of the Imperium babbling praises to a corpse on a throne. He is a pretender to divinity, his usurpation of power comes at the sacrifice of millions every day, not in pursuit of an ideal but to selfishly cling to his own existence despite his time being over. Chaos needs no redemption, it is humanity that has strayed from the path to enlightenment. Evolution, transformation and ascension was mere milenia from our grasp before humanity became slaves to the Corpse's lies. Now, the fruit of our souls withers on the vine, instead of transformation our race suffers stagnation. You may say that wouldn't I as a follower of Grandfather Nurgle believe in such things as glorious? But no, you mistake Nurgle's plan for he loves you and the life you represent, the triumph of will over insurmountable odds, the well spring of life that blossoms from corpses. The demagogue thieves of the Imperium may as well ask the angels of old to want redemption, when truth shows us they are above chastisement. So it is with Chaos.
No. What's required is for the Chaos Marine to understand that the root of his beginning was the sacrifice of everything he could have been for service to Humanity. That the only thing that gave that sacrifice worth was the honoring of the oaths required of him. Really the blame lies with the God-Emperor, with the decisions embodied in the Thunder Warriors and the Astartes that the ultimate human soldier was as separated from his humanity as could be arranged. In reducing his elite's motivations to a single point, namely honor, he was replacing the dozen smaller pillars of faith in duty with a single impervious looking column named Eternal Fidelity. Having lost that one all-important element the Renegade Astartes is adrift. Them with some intellectual sophistication might come to see that the promises of the Chaos Gods are empty. Even the mightiest Primarchs are undone by their ascendance to Daemon-hood. They are boiled away to a final soul more fitting of their patron, stripped of their personalities and opinions and other "non-essential" facets of being in favor of just being ultimately powerful. If a Renegade survives to that point what does he gain? An eternity to persist at replaying his sins? The final losses of his individuality? Perhaps the real prize is numbness to the void of boredom and despair haunting him night in and night out. Even that might be a false reward -allegedly the daemon price Perturabo, the very incarnation of relentless grinding warfare, sits uneasily upon his iron throne, screaming denials and rebuttals at the ghosts of his lost honor. Truly he raves at himself, unable to face that worse then the eternal pyre-stench of his exterminations was that ultimately he chose damnation and that most terrible of all he could un-choose it. Or of Mortarion, the very specter of death itself? Trapped and damned by the cruel machinations of the Dark Four, he succumbed and became much the same as Angron: a beast clothed in a man's form. How many others are so? Lorgar, perpetually lost in self-adoration? Magnus, endlessly dreaming in the deepest Astral Sea? Or the Phoenician Fulgrim, the very icon of the Dark Princesses bottomless appetites for depravity who more so than any visibly sacrificed his nascent humanity for Slaanesh's favor? In sum, I say thee No. The Renegade who understands that he gave up the one thing that imparted meaning to his existence is the one who embraces that, regardless of the cost, if he bends knee to his former masters he will die for that purest of reasons: for the best parts of himself, and for his service. Consider these words the next time you draw blades over a cooling corpse to contest another's claim to it's armor and munitions, and ask yourself, "what have I gained? What is my 'Freedom' worth when I cannot truly change? What value is there in loyalty to brother who'd end me for a box of bolter ammunition and who, in truer days, I'd have slain for the repulsive vulgarity of existing? If I am not a hero, who I am really? Just a puppet?"
I also point out as well to the above that it's likely why there's no traitor Salamanders IIRC- they're deeply connected with the normal humans who they protect with their lives, even raise families among the clans. It's only first 'company' of the Slamanders that's separated from their homeworld, while all the others mingle with the locals. Part of the reason why the Traitor Legions were likely so easily swayed to Chaos is how they were greatly removed from normal humans. Whereas Legions like the Salamanders and Raven Guard interact with mortals commonly and are humanists and fight largely for the cause of humanity above all else. Of course, you do have some oddballs like the Night Lords, who to some degree treat their slaves decently as Chaos Space Marines go- likely due to the origin of Night Lord Astartes as gangbangers who retain a connection to their violent culture as Astartes.
You are too kind my friend Im glad to see we agree on the way we see the Imperium. My theory on the godified Emperor is that: In one "instance" , half of the Imperium sided with chaos , everything the Emperor ever taught became apparent as a lie and the existance of the whole organization was threatened. The Siege of Terra may not ruin it completely but the impact of such a civil war was sure to level the Imperium because it was based upon lies that now saw the light. It was a matter of time before more and more would side with chaos either because of faith , fear or ambition. So the Imperial leaders decided to create a lie , to use the Emperor as a mask to keep the consistency of the Imperium. By creating a religion such as the Imperial Creed they would form a solid matter to stand opposite to the obviously existant and all-mighty Gods of Chaos. And we know well that it was not a hard feat to do. Humans have tend to godify what they do not understand and the Emperor was far from anyone's understanding. When he died , he became a martyr and martyrs become saints. Its true that those who are not loyal to chaos need the Emperor for his Astronomican. In my eyes their worship is like the worship of the caveman towards fire. Ofcourse they cant really judge. In the 41st millenium , all truth is concealed , im pretty sure that no Imperial citizen knows that Horus struck the Emperor ( except of some inquisitors ofcourse.) Its been 10k years , lets not forget that For your comment on the Word Bearers and Christ , well , Lorgar searched for the divine pressence. In warhammer , the only divine pressence he finds are the ruinous four , therefore he followed them and enstablished their religion. Considering Lorgar's character , im certain that if he found a God that was benevolent , he would become so aswell. Lorgar was not a cruel tyrant who sook to rule. He only wanted the Truth about the divine and by revealing such truth , he wished to enlightened the species. As for your actual worries about God , here's what i think. You cant debate over it. You and i know , feel and believe in the existance of a spiritual universe beyond our grasp. Someone who doesnt believe cannot understand you so its a useless debate that will be degraded to a flame war. I believe that religion is something personal , something that is shaped through our lifelong experiences and it cannot be shared. After all its always a matter of prespective. Take the chaos gods as an example. Some believe them to be Gods , other believe them to be xenos , others believe them to be physical phenomena that acquired sentience. Its just a play of words in the end So my advice on that matter is not to struggle or be concerned about what others believe or tell you to believe. They might think you are stupid or whatever but who cares , who are they to judge ? Just follow your heart and mind and have your eyes open. Everything you experience must be a subject to careful and critical thinking. Cheers , really enjoying talking to you ^^
Why Would Any Chaos Want to Redeem them self's At all Anyway War Is Unkind and it is What We Are Best at I Have Never Stood In the Emperor's Light and Never Will...Besides Do you think The Imperium of man Any less "Evil" Than us...There So Called God Feeds Off 10k Souls a DAY To keep his Rotting Body Alive....With that Said I will Forever Stand In the Midnight Clad With my Brothers
Redemption? Fool, they have been beyond redeemable qualities the day they were thrust into the universe like an unwanted plague! They were mon-keighs before and mon-keights now, as flawed a thing as they were in the services of the Imperium's pathetic "God Emperor".
And Yet your Race Is Dying out At the Hands of Chaos And Let us Not forget....your Beloved Craftworld Is Now Our Home In the Eye...Makeing your Race and Kin No More than a Dyeing breed of Refugee's Hehehe
Their is a saying used by your people that, while staining as it is to my lips, should allow me to be better understood by your mon-keight mind. "It is always darkest before the dawn". We may be low in number, true, but we shall rise to heights that defy the stars. We shall show the universe that we, the Eldar, shall reclaim what was unrightfully taken in our one moment of strife in the entirety of Eldar history. We shall strike down those who believe themselves worthy of existence only to be shown the truth, that they are but a disease that are not even worthy to clean my boots. So keep thinking yourselves in a position of strength. It shall only make our inevitable victory all the sweeter.
I Look Forward to see the day Eldar And if that Day comes ill Shatter your Dreams of Victory Like your bones Hehehehe AVE DOMINUS NOX!!!!!
