Redemption? From what? Was the Horus Heresy this grand 'fall'? Is it their total lack of humanity and sanity? Redemption is always in the eyes of the beholder. From the perspective of the CSM, they comitted no sin. They do not need redemption because they have nothing to be redeemed for. Each Chaos Space Marine has been following their path for almost ten millenias. To abandon their view, their faith, their creed is not redemption. It is merely a form of spiritual collapse. They must continue to do their deeds, worship their gods and thus validate their choice made long ago. Straying from this path is unthinkable because it would mean denying their own selves. To answer the question: I would not grant 'redemption'. There will be always consequences for one's actions. Feeling sorry about it and wanting to atone for it later means nothing to me. Each crime, each atrocity should be repaid with a reprisal of equal measure. Then again, I am not overly fond of the concept of mercy and forgiveness so I might be biased.
We are far beyond redemption. Redemption is for mortals and fools who believe in petty things such as "Morals" and "Goodwill." We, as followers of chaos, have ascended beyond these pathetic quandaries through the worship of our dark lords. Once we give into the dark lords, these things mean nothing to us, as we have shown our true colors and given our immortal souls up, in order to fight, slaughter, and do what we can to become immortal daemon princes of the warp. Rather than fight for others, or our faith. We fight for greed, we fight for ourselves, and we ascend to daemonhood at any cost! So we are beyond redemption... We do not regret our past wrongdoings, but we revel in them. We lust for greater sins against humanity and xenos alike, all for our own greed.
Their Is no pity For you Traitors You will All DIE!!!!! There is No Peace Among the Stars There Only War And the Laughter Of the Dark Gods.
So you're a loyalist praising the dark gods, is that it? You gave me an idea: We are not beyond redemption, we are beyond regret! Makes sense since redemption is the reward for feeling regret.
As far as the Imperium is concerned the traitorous heretics deserve nothing more than death in the glorious name of the God Emperor, and considering the Imperium I assume that even thinking of forgiving a worshiper of Chaos is punishable by execution by your local Inquisitorial Witch Hunter. Perhaps if their lucky they may be forgiven in cleansing flame, but I wouldn't count on it.
Their is a story of a deathwatch squad going to renegade because the inquistion they followed their path there was a Devastator an Apothecary and a Librarian were betrayed on a feral world and sentenced to death for heresy by the 666th chapter the Grey Knights of course the Dark Eldar come out of no where and take them to what they seemed to be a feral world but sercretaly was a daemon world when daemons started appearing hey knew they had already been beyond redemption so as a status quo i say renegades and the legions alike once they have been tainted by the war they know their is no goin home to serve the man called God Emperor but their is one space wolve B'jorn the Fellhanded hes said " This all started with us calling him a god" during the first Armageddon war the only known surviver of the Horus heresy that has been put into a dreadnought for his knowledge
The only survivor on the loyalist side... There a a whole lot more on Chaos side. I think I see a pattern in this fact.
Was it by any chance part of the Uriel Ventries series? Because the only part I never fully understood was: Why did noone shoot that bastard for letting the Nightbringer loose instead of sacrificing himself to seal his tomb again!
