I think the skins are pretty good except the torso/thigh armor. That torso/thigh armor for all models needs a bit of an upgrade....especially since all the other pieces or armor look high res in comparison. This goes for chaos and space marines, same issue with the torso/thigh armor looking out of date. I'm of an opposite opinion, that style of helmet is cool even though obviously a borrowed skin from space marines. Kinda wish they'd use that helmet style and give it horns, cause not a fan of the base helmet with the horn selections.
So long as you're getting every shot on target with the higher ROF at least, yeah. If it's 3 shots with zero spread (which it isn't, but if it were), that might be okay.
Even if it had perfect accuracy, it would still be a downgrade really. For a short ranged weapon, regular modded ASC out DPS it by a long shot.
But if it had perfect accuracy (i.e. zero spread), then it wouldn't be a short-ranged weapon. It would be a short-medium ranged weapon, with it only failing at long range due to damage falloff. Edit: But anyway, we're a long long way off-topic here, since the OP was talking about Word Bearers visuals.
that "zelda-esque" aquila is actually absolutly fine. Only the wings are not correct. Also the feet are missing. But at least they got the heads, with the right one having no eye, correct.
I get the distinct impression someone in their art department has real difficulty in visualising what a texture will look like once mapped onto a model. That's really hard, to be fair, but still clearly achievable. That pauldron is not achieving its goal of looking like the Imperial Aquila.
the thing is, i have no clue what it going on...first the shoulderpad is nothing like it was displayed on the founder store..it had a big eagle head sticking out the shoulderpad. now it's just the generic attempt of the 2d imperial aquila and if you look at the new space marine boots they have that eagle exactly as the pic you posted...i'm at a loss of words.
I think they wanted it to take up more space on the pauldron. The problem is, whilst it does achieve that, it has the secondary (and presumably unwanted) effect of looking pretty bad. I would say, it's not awful.
Interesting thought but every time i've seen a word bearer they normally have a horned helmet. Kinda like how night lords have bat wings a lot. Funny that they don't have horns on a bundle that's supposed to give them their signature look. Wait why are we paying for the signature appearance of our faction
