You know what, Chaos doesn't even need any healers suckas!!!

You charge and die or you don't charge and die! Maybe something along the lines of dangerous mutations when Chaos Marines are close to death... becoming deadlier with more damage?

Although there are too many Chaos units to even begin to think who is going to take up the mantle of healing and buffing. I will be glad if there was no healing in the game at all, that way it would be a lot more surreal to just know that you will sacrifice more than 30 second respond timer for the Emperor or the Dark Gods!

Maybe it gives the Apothecary/insert appropriate Chapter term here, a buff when he successfully extracts one. I'd say have it cut down on respawn time but then you'd see Apoth's picking over every single body all bloody battle unless they was say a cap or something on it.

Could give a morale boost buff or add resources/requisition?

If an Apothecary should heal anyone it should be while they're killing something. Maybe as an aura so while he fights anyone within a certain radius gets a very small HP/S or something.

I like this, a way to recover a portion of the resources you spent on that character's spawn

The way I see it, if we're going to be trying to make a close adaptation to the tabletop then we're not going to have much in the way of HP pools or HP restoration. We're mostly going to be relying on either not getting hit, or our armor stopping the shot completely. Just one to three shots actually getting through *will* down most units.

The way I see it, the closest analogue to FNP would be a revive mechanic. If the medic-equivalent (say, apothecary) gets to you in time to revive, that's what passing your FNP roll represents on the tabletop. If they don't get to you in time or you just choose to respawn, that's the equivalent of failing your FNP roll.

Though I don't know how we would represent units that inherently have FNP, or Necrons' We'll Be Back. Would they have some silly "fight for your life" QTE, or would they self-rez automatically unless someone finishes them off (with an execution or by shooting their downed corpse some more) or the player opts out? Obviously, Instant Death will have to deny any revive mechanic just like on tabletop.

Maybe have apothecaries harvest gene seed to improve respawn rates in that particular battlefield?

What if you could buy upgrades like field generators or something? That would be sweet to be a roving force field.

Ranged healing does not exist on any kind of scale that I have seen in lore, and it would put a hamper on the fun of the game (EVERYTHING IS DANGEROUS).

You want to heal that guy as an Apoth? BETTER RUN INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE BATTLE TO DO SO BOSS!

I hope there won't be only one regular HP bar, because there is at leat two reasons to "fall" in the battle - death from physical damaga and/or mental, IMHO.

As we know at least in Blood Angels and Space Wolfs Chapter, Apothecary also share or combine the role of Space Marines Chaplai in watching over their battle-brothers' spiritual well-being, guarding against the influence of the Red Thirst and the Black Rage. Space Wolfs Apothecary also use use healing potions and balms. (Source)

I think that it would be logical to have two health bars (physical and mental), and both physycal and mental atacks remove poins from both physical and mental bar. Of course, physical atack remove more poins from physical health bar and only secondery takes mental damage and reamoves some poins from mental health bar (depending on type and weapons total damage). And oposite. Depending of which bar goes to zero first, will determin the death reason.

This will give and opportunity to Apothecary's to make some minor ranged bufs to protect from mental atacks and/or mental damage. And of course use some medical equipment to heal in close combat.
