Orkz are my go-to race to unwind, until recently that is. For some reason a lot of the cunning has suddenly disappeared from a LOT of the players in PUGs. From ones that cannot seem to even make it inside a building in order to capture it. Amazingly enough the ones that just run in get inside, maybe kill one or two, and then die alone. All of the melee is either upstairs or fighting outside the building instead of securing the building. The melee hangs back or will charge in one at a time. I even watched one in a match today pass a Space Marine that was crouched beside the box he walked past with his shield up, we will ignore the fact the Space Marine had already been firing at the player before he went to that box to reload. Siege matches where there is maybe 2-3 melee covering the entire wall defences, means all the Lootas are dead because there are not enough of them. Instead I see a half dozen or more running around as Shootas, thinking they are going to be of much use against the vehicles and the melee troops disembarked from them. Players complaining about the lack of anti-Armour weapons, yet they haven't bothered to buy one yet... Melee being to few in numbers during a siege to protect even 1/4 of the Lootas, and then complaining they are dieing to fast to be of much help, but again all the Shootas are running around. Melee not being smart enough to hang back, instead they charge in against the 3-4 opponents thinking they are doing it right. Like I said, a LOT of the cunning from the Orkz has gone AWOL.
If they can stick a battery to a choppa and call it a power axe, why not the same for a slugga blade? I mean out of the WHOLE Milky Way Galaxy, not 1 ork thought "Huh, wut wuld happen if i stick dis shocky thingy onto my blade choppa?"
You dont have to be a melee to cover people. A gagle of shoota boys works well also they just have to shoot the right people is all.
To be fair, the melee fighting upstairs are usually extremely helpful because they'd be clearing out the heavybolters, autocannons, and... well let's not kid ourselves, no one knows what Eldar use, but it hurts, but if Orks could get in range of them they'd clear dem gits out roight propa too! As for the one's fighting outside, they are probably trying to get inside, leaving the chainsword/power/forcesword quick attack spammers alive is just an exercise in pain.
Seriously orks are in a really bad state. Did anyone catch the map ar0ung 01:00 26-Oct-2016 GMT? Chaos was just pushing them off. I was playing Chaos last night and we capped the fortress map and the orks still had 100 tickets. I was playing Maggon as a Raptor with Power Ax, something I haven't done in about 3 months. I was cutting orks down like they were not there. I was about to play as orks last night then I remembered how angry it made me the night before, so I didn't. So much for the melee faction. Meanwhile, Eldar are still melee spamming with their 1 and 2 hit kills.
Poor teamplay is more likely a symptom of being an underpowered faction rather than suddenly all ork players lost the skill to play the game.
Ive noticed the lack of team play post patch before the patch people seemed to work better, no one was shooting each other in the back and when it did happen it was an honest mistake, people capped points and defended well it was pretty damn cool But now, jesus its like every one sat out in the sun and let there brains turn to mush and become ferral its feels like we just did a 180 on everything (not every match mind you around 70-80% of games) this coupled with the nerf we got it aint looking good for us anymore dont get me wrong i understand if they are new players and we all gotta start somewhere but i just wish they listened to advice we aint mocking you we are trying to help you
I think orks were definitely broken on account of the klaw spam that existed but I agree Orks need tankbusta boys equivalent. All factions needs the same capability it just doesnt have to be 100% mirrored.
Of all the races, the Orka seem most self aware over the problems they have the power to fix. It may be hard to do, but a lot of the time all that's really required is a sheppard or two on the Ork team convince the Boyz to charge in all at once. It even works on Maggon when 20 Orks come piling onto the point at the same time. I'm not kidding, it still happens post patch; I was in a game where the PuG Orks beat a full roster of SMs while attacking Olipsis.
I never really noticed the spam, truth be told. I saw klaw's coming out when a tank showed up, but most classes will pull some sort of melta when our tanks would roll up as well. Orks using the klaw was exclusively vehicles since it was first implemented. Many (Myself included) tried using the klaw on troops, but the broken quick attack (fixed on....release I believe) the long power attack (made painfully longer the second patch after release) and the DBash (which most ork weapons and melee in general it seems) being so low in chance of working unless you began it just before their quick attack, left it being a "use on vehicles" kind of weapon. If someone got killed , it was either someone trying out the klaw and getting onto the back of someone else, or someone getting klaw'd along the way or as an ork was hitting a vehicle. The klaw's loss of lunge on strong attack only nailed the coffin and filled the hole around it with concrete on that role, but the hilariously slow strong attack (I want to honestly say 3.5 - 4 seconds) you're better off with a deff kannon. Unlike the melta, even with the telltale sound, it's usually pretty easy to tell when someone is klawing the vehicle, as your 100 ton vehicle moving 10 feet in a random direction usually is a good sign. And since someone attacking with a klaw is heavily gimped, you'll usually do fine if you stand back and unload into them. That being said, I agree that we need tankbusta weapons/class, and would of course enjoy it not being 100% mirrored, as all the races really have plenty of interesting anti-tank weapons to choose from, but I feel like we're probably just going to get a "Looted Metla" that will do less damage, because Orks don't know how to make devastating things, just stuff that doesn't work. But then again I feel like the Devs tend to not understand Ork weapons are Orky not because they are crude and weaker but because despite being crude they also tend to be devastating, if faulty as all get out. But that's more of a rant for another day.
