Or ya know...any kills. Turns out having one good move and two attrocious ones was keeping ork melee viable. Now its just 3 attrocious ones unless you go with a weak impact choppa. Officially given up on attempting ork melee as it is a complete waste of time right now.
Hi, since i play all factions and usually the less favourite of the moment i returned to orks and gone to rank 4 with the dok, absolutely loving it, the poison dot covers the gap leaved from the adjustements to melee, plus Dok heals are useful (although need practice for the contact heal which is not easy like a sorc one) and he is also pretty though, not only i am finding it the most efficent in LP cost when equipping the best gear i unlocked till this point, yes the melee clang break too much fast but since i am used or to stay in group (which is the main duty of doks) or to hit from behind it is rare that i need to duel someone, also ork's smart slugga is a very good finisher , i will try the siringe slugga for train my aim but overall i am doing very good points between heals and kills. Army of Doks WAAAAAAGH! incoming!
honestly i dunno anymore, i guess you can say ive given up? its just i dunno unfair how we are really singled out yet orks get no real fixes unless im missing something? i mean dbash barely works, shooting even though it got buffed still feels useless (too me anyway im not saying im pro but i can aim ok) just been in a match and people keep saying try something new i have it dosnt work, and i shouldnt have to it should be balanced and fair a game is to suit the player not the other way round or am i missing something dunno maybe im just ranting and feeling sore maybe i have a point just really bummed out how orks feel now
So far the games I've played have gone any and all ways. From extreme losses to absolute facerolls. You know what that means? That balance is quite okay. While in PUGs results have varied greatly, mostly on account of the synergy within the team, be it good or bad. With my guild, we have continued to mostly win against PUGs, but still face some close defeats, and even more than fair losses against other guilds. All in all, what does this mean? That in my games I have seen that team composition and cooperation has meant the outcome. What's that called? Well my baby boys, that's called balance. Sure, we have broken things in our arsenal. Sure, we're missing weapons. But we knew balance was an issue to deal with. I take this as a means of having the devs test things. In many aspects we had been a very superior faction compared to others in the larger scale. We have proven it time after time. The devs have a greater range of action to try new things out if you tweak and put pressure on one of the factions that has shown a greater adaptative ability, on their highs and lows. Now we still hold our ground in the current patch, but some just struggle with changes, and the game is shifting. ALL factions have been swapping around their arsenal and trying out new things in the past. We are ALL seeing weapons we hadn't expected others to use before in some occasions. But I haven't seen the game rendered unplayable. Just today I kept a point on my own for an entire game with my Big Shoota, by being clever and camping a bit to hunt down the CSM with guerrilla tactics. So far as to have them bring around 5 people to deal with one single orc, and I'm far from a great player. Just go out there and play. If you relied on your tools that badly, maybe use it as food for thought. At the end of the day we all have a reticle and a left mouse button.
Look at the world map. We're losing across the board again. Yes orks were overpowered in melee, but we were garbage in all other fields. Now that they've removed our melee dominance the truth is coming out. Orks are the least viable right now.
I'm nearly rank 6 with chaos and have been playing a bit of orks. I stopped at rank 3 before this patch because it wasn't even fun to use the e.choppa. It was insta death, 30+ kills per match every game almost. I love power fists and haven't gotten one yet on orks but if it works anything like it does on CSM I'll be a big fan. Axes on CSM have the same issues you're encountering right now with e. choppas - very slow but you can adjust to it. I switched to a choppa sword with pen mod and it nearly as fast as before but without the stunlock autowin. Ork melee seems to be about in line with everyone else now (well, no power sword). So to answer the OP - I'm enjoying melee on orks just as much as i do on the other factions.
*Shrug* As I said, Orks are the least viable, but we have had the most adaptative community towards that. The demands of AV for Orks has now turned into banshee screams and constant crying when, as I said, with a proper team I still see consistent wins. The general air of pure QQ is getting pretty frustrating, when 4 days ago everyone was puffing out their chest about "haha lsm is worse players orks is better coordinated and better players hahahaha even with worse weapons we wins haha". Well go and prove that now, hm? By the way, the World Map is pretty much proof of nothing to us, because with so many variables such as pugs, skill, faction population and returning players in LSM together with vet Orks leaving in tears... we just really don't have the raw data to make an assessment, other than the fact that we're losing more. Which could mean any number of things. I think many Ork players are blowing this patch out of proportion when it's pretty clear it's a temporary measure.
We all know that teamwork > any weapon buff. Unfortunately sometimes the other teams are well organised too and when we lose because we have no viable AV, our melee is a fucking mess or any hit to back is insta-death it feels cheap and dirty. The Klaw did not need a nerf and it has had one. It is now point for point worse than the SM and CSM equivalent. We don't have one-hit-kill-balls-of-AOE-death plasma bullshits. Our wargear encourages us to stack toughness in a meta dominated by plasma of all varieties. Our Dbash is a joke. Our AV grenade works 10% of the time as it is supposed to. Also I didn't see many Orks "puffing out their chests" and mocking SM, I for one have been incredibly vocal about the need to buff SM, so much so that I received scorn from numerous forum goers who disagreed with me. SM deserved their buff but Orks did not deserve this massive nerf.
I guess I'm simply more contented with the game then. Our dbash always felt like trash to me, we've never had AOE death plasma, I've managed to make AV grenade work more often than not, even if it sometimes fails, and I'll agree that the Klaw doesn't need to be any different from a Power Fist. But idk, as an ork, I feel like it's fair game that if I'm caught in the back, I'm toast. That was already happening to me more often than not before the patch. Like I said, I suppose I just have a more carefree attitude towards playing an ork. In my case it's paying off because I find myself doing quite well in matches, so I might just be too dumb to see what the fuss is about in the bigger picture.
To be fair, I do well in matches but it doesn't mean I can ignore the glaring disparities between teams. A lot of my recent frustration is the awful servers and optimisation. For whatever reason the game is getting worse and it is becoming less and less enjoyable when the game suffers regular freezes for a couple of seconds, usually when the action is about to kick off.
