I couldn't find the question regarding this, since there is thousands of different Space Marine Chapters or Chaos Legions. Very similar to the option given to players in Dawn of War to customize their own army. I would see this best the way of people building their own guilds based on their group symbol like the 'Angry Marine'. I know there is the main factions playable in DC, Space Marine there is DA,SW,BA etc. and Chaos being the Black Legion, Khorne, nurgle etc. This gives players to invest more in different characters, I would play one of my characters with one of the vanilla type of badges, and other ones with my own made up one.
We're joining existing armies not creating our own. There will be plenty of cosmetic options themed after the sub-factions for customization.
