So I was watching livestream #34 and I had a couple thoughts.

    1. At some point you can see a Raptor helping up a fellow CSM. While helping up wouded teammates is an interesting gameplay feature for all factions , it seemed really out of character for a raptor to help out a wounded comrade (and while Orks aren't in the game yet, you have to ask yourself: would an Ork help another Ork who is too grieviously wounded to stand on his feet, or would he just walk on by while laughing at him?)

CSM should be able to help their wouded up of course, because some of them would. But they should also have the option to execute those among them who are weak enough to end up crawling on their knees on a battlefield. After all, backstabbing, teamkilling and spite the weak are all pretty common among the CSM, wereas mercy and solidarity are usually in pretty short supply.

I'm not suggesting this to encourage griefing, and shooting at a healthy teammate should of course bring about penalties for the culprit, but I think once a CSM is crawling on the ground he should be fair game for his own teammates, at least as far as executions are concerned.

It could be balanced in terms of gameplay by granting a squad or individual something like a buff in exchange for the dead teammate. You could even get creative by changing what happens depending on what kind of CSM finishes off his teammate or is finished off (e.g. sorceror gets a boost of power if he "sacrifices" a fellow CSM, ammo replenished for squad or killer if a Havoc is killed this way, etc.) It would certainly add a lot of flavor to playing CSM not knowing if your teammates are going to save you or take advantage of you once you are down.

And the Orks should probably get a somewhat similar feature (Ork teef are pretty valuable after all)

What do you and the devs think about this?

    2. In the video you can see a rhino can't run over a lamp post. Ruined buildings, craters and just general destruction are a staple of most 40K battlefields. Are there any plans to have destructible environments in the game?

Yes, lets keep the griefing for the CSM :D

Orks do have Mad Docs and you do see them often with repaired parts.... sure they like to throw each other around sometimes or "accidentally" kill one another but unless they are fighting for boys or dakka I don't think they just kill each other when they are dying.

    1. Going with you idea will make the Chaos faction nothing but a hostile mess of a faction that wont help each other worth crap and will just troll each other by executing one another. Some CSM might be pricks to their brothers but leave that to the lore and not the actual game where you have a huge overarching campaign goal that gets farther away from being completed as more people troll each other.

Tying it to buffs is further illogical as you will just foster a ridiculous mechanic where people take turns killing one another as the buff runs out so they could keep the buff running.

    CSM1: Hey Bob!
    CSM2: Yeah?
CSM1: Its your turn to get executed again.
CSM2: Oh wait, gotta finish my sandwich first.
CSM1: Whenever you are ready Bob.
    CSM2: Ok im ready.
CSM1: Smile for the camera Bob.
    CSM2: Cheese! :D

    *blam*

    Ridiculous isnt it?

    2. They dont have plan for destructible environments outside things like gates or walls for sieges. But i do agree that some silly minute things like a medium sized rock stops a Predator dead in its tracks. They need to find ways to look into this.

    1. Not for me to discuss.

    2. One possibility would be to "shape" the vehicles' hulls so that they get bumped upwards when hitting LOW obstacles. Then they could get over them with enough momentum or get stuck on top if they're too slow or just slide back down.
  5. I like the idea behind it, but as Djemo posted it would be hard to prevent it being used in a non-griefing way or absurd exploitation. Even if you would leave it open to just the squad leader rooting out the weak in his squad and offering up once trusted friends to the dark gods, it would be an easy trigger of dissent between the players.

So guess it would be impossible to implement...unless the "choosen" one is part of a ritual and the sorcerer can sacrifice (special execution) him, when he is downed by enemy fire, so that the executed is reborn as...something different...maybe a "glasscannon" demon (kind of demon varies with the mark of the sorcerer) until respawn.

it would suck for ork players if they couldn't help heir teammates while all other factions can.
so... why not just make the animation orky? like, when an ork helps another one back on his feet, he kicks his ass (or stuffs a squig into his mouth) and yells at him to get back in the fight.

iirc fortress doors will be destructible, nope for environment. those lamps should definitely be on the desctructible list.

Maybe it can work as a deny, like you kill them and it doesn't count vs the kill count stuff. Only if they do the execute though.

You could execute a friendly and reduce their spawn timer, other than that it will be just grief.
    XRuinX and RustyRake like this.
  9. XRuinX XRuinX Preacher

Maybe only squad leaders and above be executable, as if those below them see their leaders too weak to continue to lead.

    1. No, Just No. To encourage TEAMKILLING is a great way to kill a faction if trolls just go around executing team mates. Even if it gives reduced spawn timer what if the spawn point is miles away ? Then you have to walk back to a battle that might be over ( going off the eventual open world ) and being able to get back up is better than getting spawned earlier . Chaos in lore may be jerks but they dont always throw away guys especially not when they're not at a numbers advantage (lore wise roughly every faction is outnumbered by enemies in general 3:1 which isnt good )
    2. Lamp posts and stuff need to go maybe even just not add things like that. I do like the breakable grates idea allowing for some sneakiness and tactical flexibility.
