Very interesting read, didn't know that before! But for me Eldrad is still alive! How exactly did the retconning of the 13.th crusade work? And why was it done? Anyone knows? (old thread^^) And btw, why don't they make campaigns like that anymore, it sounds amazing, and a really good way to develop the Wh40k Universe/Story. (As long as they don't "kill" the greatest Eldar^^)
He was dead. They appear to have completely retconned the 13th Black Crusade however since as of the 6th Ed codex he's absolutely fine, just getting on a little bit (i.e. starting to turn into a garden ornament).
I think it's more to do with being the last actually half-decent lore writing GW did, so they've scrubbed it from the new era. Note they've totally retconned the Grey Knights, a big chunk of the Space Wolves and the entire Necron concept too.
It might be better to ask "has the Thirteenth Black Crusade been ret-conned in any form and particularly Eldrad's 'death'?"
A) Why would you get Brian Blessed to record that? It's not in the appropriate style at all. B) It's been retconned extensively, he's alive. It's in the 6th edition Eldar Codex, pg 53. The Crusade itself does get a mention in the 7th edition Dark Eldar codex though, so maybe they're bringing it back somewhat.
Have they said that Eldrad now sports a roguish eye patch along with a remarkably nice pair of boots? "Eldrad Ulthlan? I heard you were dead."
This Eldar victim complex is a bit silly sometimes. EoT campaign was very good to Eldar. Abaddon got beatdown by Eldrad in close combat, Biel-Tan liberated a Maiden World INSIDE THE EYE OF TERROR (that doesn't even make sense) and Maugan Ra went to a place Primarchs go to die and came out of it with a new sub faction. The only trade was Eldrad "died" and even this came with heavy hinting that he was perfectly fine since his soul stones where still ticking away.
A) No idea, I was just trying to help Zoatibix out with his question. B) That story as been in the Eldar books since the first Craftworld Eldar Codex supplement. It is just regurgitated fluff. None of the wiki's mention any retconning of the 13th black crusade. I think we need more proof of retconning that one old piece of fluff.
