Though just like other terms it is getting more specific to 'anime lover' though despite it doesn't even mean that ; like you explained before yourself. So I reached my goal: It comes down to the context and depends who the heck you talk to ^^
Alright, sorry for my misunderstanding, I was just going off what I learned some time ago and since it came from someone who had only been here for a little while, thought that it was a more trustworthy source than the internet (Such as Urban Dictionary). Also, what town/city is your wife from? It might even mean different things depending what part of Japan you're from. My friend was from Chiba, and spent a lot of time in Tokyo (Akihabara).
My wife? She is from Havanna, Cuba Moved to the US when she was 13 or so, learned since then english, french and japanese
